I followed this to replace the spark plugs on my car. Took a couple of hours from start to finish but it went without issue. Thanks for putting this video together.

Luuka, glad it helped!

Now this is what you call good documentation. I was able to find every hose, clamp, and electrical switch to take out. It was also as easy to put back. This saved me a few hundred dollars. Thanks!

You’re welcome Jennifer , I know how expensive can be to get those replaced at a shop. Glad it helped!

Thank you a bunch for posting this video! I was able to replace the spark plugs in my 2003 Mazda6 in no time…saving me a bunch of money. Such a huge help!

Video helped a lot. Just saved me 350 dollars to replace them. Took my friend and I about 3 hours because we didn’t have the proper tools. Next time I can change them in under a hour. What a annoying process it was tho.

The video was great, thanks for taking the time to post it.

Rob Schmidt says:

That hard to get to hose you warned about was too tough for me, so I pulled the plenum as you described, but flipped it over to the driver’s side after it cleared and I was able to easier unhook that hose. When I got to the firewall side cylinder on the driver’s side, the coil came out sopping wet with oil, so I had to go shopping for a new valve cover gasket. As soon as I got home with the new gaskets from NAPA (about $36, believe it or not), the rains came so I’ll have to complete tomorrow.

Thanks for the video! This helped me get to back cylinder bank to change out a balky ignition coil. I perhaps could have fumbled my way through it, but you probably saved me 90 minutes of profanity.

mennes25, I’m not sure if there is a tutorial for that year, is yours a 4 cylinder, Speed or V6? I know body style wise Mazda 6 didnt change much, and engine set up and everything should be the same, just pop the hood and remove the engine cover and compare it to the pics on the video and see if there’s any difference, which there shouldnt be. But feel free to ask any questions and I’ll gladly try to help you out.

Is there any tutorial for the spar plugs changing on a mazda6 2008? I went around and they are trying to charge me 100$ just for labor nort including the spark plugs!!!!

Thank you so much great video

henrixroger says:

Oh that sucks, but thats good you still were able to do it yourself. And wow how can they come and say something like that that they have to remove the engine?? thats crazy! but glad it helped

Ward Downey says:

I found your video two days ago. I am glad I did. My daughter was told at the garage that they would have to remove her engine to replace the plugs. I told my wife, I never heard such a thing. Your video was VERY helpful. It would have taken me only 1.5hr-2hrs but I broke the T connector on the coolant hose that goes into the throttle body. Had to wait for the wife to get the part. And of course I had to buy the entire hose assemble from Mazda(39.00). Once again, thank you for a very good video.

Thank you very mcuh for making this video. I successfully changed out my plugs on my 6. You weren’t kidding about that hose being hard to get to… I’m no mechanic, so having a great step-by-step video to guide me sure comes in handy. Hope to see more any other Mazda6 maintenance that you take upon yourself to do/share.

Ybadboy27, I know labor and parts it would’ve cost me a fortune, thats good it helped, and no problem! Thanks for the comments…

ybadboy27 says:

well done for step by step instruction.. ur added to my friends list.. thank you. I saved almost $850.00 only because I shop the ignition coils and spark plugs (6 each) on ebay which all together (parts) cost me $120.00. The mechanic cost (labor and 1 ignition coil replace) was $400.00 so just thinking about it .. if i want to replace all coils and plugs by a meahanic … it probably cost me almost $1000.00. Again big thank u!!!

No problem, I’m glad it helped…!
