This video is the compete guide to how to install an aftermarket header or exhaust manifold on your Mazda MX5 Miata, with either the 1.6L or the 1.8L engine. This will work for both NA and NBs. I go through all the tools you’ll need and all the steps you’ll need to follow, from how to remove your old exhaust manifold, O2 sensor, heat shield, and disconnect the exhaust. From here, I show the new stainless steel Racing Beat 4 to 1 header, and go over all the steps to installing new exhaust gaskets to installing the header, O2 sensor, and properly torquing everything down. I hope this video helps you!

Here's how to install an aftermarket header on your Miata! What kinds of exhaust setups do you have on your cars?
I’m guessing the o2 fit? I bought circuitwerks 421 headers and where the o2 goes is lower down than the raceland headers. Did you have to do anything to get the o2 to work/fit?
so i can fit a 1.8 Header on an 1.6?
is it the same?
5:45 at this part. The clip near the joint of the manifold and the pipe going to the cat. That clip that bolts to the transmission. You didnt show us how you got that out. My NB process is like yours but that clip is killing me right now.
i ripped off my heat shield because it was raddling should I put a new one on or just leave it
Thanks for posting this! My son and I are restoring a little Miata that he found on the Internet – and will soon be doing mods. (And posting our progress on YouTube of course! LOL) We are looking at doing a header install and complete cat-back exhaust but are at a loss as to what to put behind the cat that doesn't "drone" down the road… I want LOUD, he wants no drone… Eventually we will come up with a compromise!
Subbed after checking out several of your other videos – Good job and keep posting!
Was your 02 sensor wire long enough after screwing it into the bunge???
Very nice job on this video.
Hey there brother thank you for the awesome video, it is super helpful.
I recently did a full exhaust on my 99 NB. I chose the ISR racing circuit spec 2 exhaust. Love the sound it has a deep growl and is loud.
Quick question though I'm looking to do the headers next however do you have to get it tuned after you install the headers?
Haven't been able to find a miata tuner near me yet.
Is this carb legal in ca
YESSSSS 1.6 LESSGOOO!! Lol just bought one the other day
how did you get the little bracket holding the old manifold to the transmission area?
Great video!
