Thanks bro :)

ChrisFix says:

Because then I would have to go out and buy something… this way you dont have to…

DEIZELable says:

Why didn’t you just use stereo removal keys to get the old radio out? They’re 4 bucks at Walmart the whole install would take 2 minutes..

ChrisFix says:

They did. This is the exact same car as the ranger except for some bumpers. Everything part is made by ford…

LukeBryanFan20 says:

Does ford own mazda. That looks exactly like a ranger.

Steverd99 says:

GREAT video – Just what I was looking for for my Ranger!!

ChrisFix says:

The answer to that is because it would cost $50 for an aux port and the new radio cost $30… So a new radio plus $50 is a lot!

Darren Strain says:

I am not really car literate, but why did you go cassette vs USB or AUX port? I own a 98 ford ranger with the stock stereo that was in it and I want to upgrade so I can hook up my phone like you said vs making 30+ CDs. Is the 98 Ranger not compatible with the USB/AUX cables or is that an entire different upgrade all together? Any answer will be greatly appreciated thanks

ChrisFix says:

No prob! That isnt a bad price at all!

cody basford says:

I found one for 38.99 not what I was looking to pay but better than most thanks for the help dude

ChrisFix says:

Yea, I cant find him on there now either… Try amazon and also call your local junk yard… Sometimes it’s just about waiting… But it looks like the head units went up in price!

cody basford says:

The cheapest I could find was $85 and it doesn’t even look like the right one

ChrisFix says:

Not really because you cant on youtube. Just search “ford ranger radio” on ebay and a bunch pop up…

cody basford says:

Or the title

cody basford says:

Could you post the link?

ChrisFix says:

Go on ebay. There is a guy who refurbishes them and is asking about $40… I offered $30 and go it!

cody basford says:

Im looking to do the exact same thing in the video where did you buy your radio and for about how much?

ChrisFix says:

I am not sure what the wires could be because there are so many things that it might be. Look up the owners manual online and it will tell you what those color wires do. As for the other radio, you can get an adapter (not sure the part #) that will allow you to connect the stock radio wiring harness to the new sony head unit… Walmart sells them as well as amazon.

ChrisFix says:

They make adapters for smaller radios. It will not fit without the adapter. It is basically a plate that goes around the radio to fill the gaps.

bradwhowell says:

The radio I got is smaller ( 7×2 inches ) will that be ok even though its a little small?

Anthony Pippin Jr says:

When I bought my ford ranger their was already an aftermarket radio in it and it had a red and white wire coming from the radio they was like an aux looking wire or something I’m not sure i was just wondering if u could tell me wht they was I didn’t see them plugged into anything and also I was wanting to buy a Sony gt570up to put in my truck I was gonna ask u if u thought it would hook up ok?

ChrisFix says:

I think it will work just fine!

twolungking says:

Hey i noticed you went from a cd to a cassette im looking to do the opposite cassette to cd. OEM of course I already found one do you think it will work ? its a 97 ranger xlt

ChrisFix says:

Because this radio was $30 and it is the same one as factory.

dyePanda says:

aayyyiiiii!!! why not just pickup a nice little pioneer???

nolan petro says:

Great video!

ChrisFix says:

No prob! Thanks for the nice comment!

southsidewhtboy says:

Nice video! Thanks

ChrisFix says:

I am not sure but I know it isnt hard. Ford does a good job making it easy to get behind the panels!

Anthony Pippin Jr says:

How much different would it be to put an aftermarket radio in an 97 ford ranger?

ChrisFix says:

I have used the walmart kits before. They are good and dont cost a fortune. You can also try the major auto stores (Autozone, advanced auto, pep boys, etc) but they will be more expensive.

TIOLiveAgain says:

Extremely well made video, just a quick question on the installation. I have a Jensen HD5112, and it seems too small to fit into the radio slot. Can you give me an idea of where to buy a kit that would help with the actual fit? I’ve heard of the kits at Walmart, but I’m not sure if they are what I need.

ChrisFix says:

It should be plug and play if you got the correct wiring harness… Good luck with the install.. Sounds like an awesome radio!

MySpaceSucks3 says:

awesome video bro. i have an 07 ranger that has the same screws at the bottom. hopefully it will be pretty much the same. mine is aftermarket and i got the installation kit, its a touch screen 2 din, it has like 10 rca cables though, so im hoping those are just for subs because none of them are labelled. all the factory speakers are in that plug on the left im assuming?

ChrisFix says:

I guess really small nails might work. Cool tip, thanks!

TheLiquidious says:

u can actually use 2 nails instead of the special tool

ChrisFix says:

Awesome! Glad it helped!

uglykidlance says:

Thanks for this. It helped me a lot.

ChrisFix says:

No prob! I hope it helped!

Craig Stultz says:
