How do you have the intake attached to the firewall? Is there a flanged coupling that you are using that bolts to the firewall?

Stephan vang says:

Can you send me the ebay links so I can purchase it?

matthew kohl says:

great intake setup. I may try to make something like it for my NB roadster. I really like the sound of the car in the video and for real cold air and good sound its a winner.

SUPERMOPAR91 says:

The m3 was probably an automatic, and actually just a 3 series, but that’s okay; everything else sounds legit.

wanteds13 says:

You must have so many friends with your sence of humor!

mitchellrg says:

Awsome Job

minipilot22 says:

Does it really make a noticeable difference beside the sound? I mean is it really worth the trouble? Cause I think that the stock ecm automatically regulates the mixture to compensate for the denser air, eventually killing the effect.

J3TPILOT1991 says:

Firstly I’m not a teenager. Secondly, don’t try bullshit by saying you have never seen F&F, ANYONE who like cars even remotely has seen it. My point was there was no need for you to get up that guy/girl for what they wrote as it WAS from the first F&F, and it WAS one of the funny bad acting moments that people made into a semi joke. Also I like Initial D in a different way then F&F. Bye

netager says:

Mmmm… Since when fast and furious is a car movie? 🙂 I thought it’s was right next “Cars” to keep teenage boys entertained.
I’ll watch Initial D any day over F&F and I don’t drift.

netager says:

Video is not fake, check my latest videos from autox.
Car is blast to drive. TEIN flex with 9/6 springs, flyin’ miata front sway bar, stock rear bar, 15×8 Konig flatout wheels with 205 Z1 star specs, eBay muffler, intake, light flywheel, poly bushings on all control arms. I was faster than that M3 in front of me in one of my autox videos.
All parts are from ebay. Front part is one of those $20 kits with cone filters, enclosed intake filter and 22 degree elbow to connect to firewall.

J3TPILOT1991 says:

its a fucking fast and furious quote. Do you even like cars?

Buzz King says:

THIS IS THE NICEST DIY CAI I HAVE SEEN ON A MIATA! CAN YOU PLEASE POST A DIY OR LINK TO WHICH DIY YOU USED… EVERY OTHER DIY I’VE SEEN DOESN’T LOOK ANYWHERE AS NICE CLEAN AND PROFESSIONAL AS YOURS!!!

Joshua Beaumont says:

Classic!

Mark LeeMaoShengHiNoon says:

He bought parts off ebay and assembled it himself.

Michael Sanchez says:

I HAVE A 1993 MX-5, IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR AN INTAKE FOR MUCH TOO LONG, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE YOU BOUGHT THIS SPECIFIC ONE, IF ANYBODY CAN GIVE ME ANY ADVISE AS TO HOW OR WHERE I COULD BUY ONE. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT, I HAD BAUGHT ONE ON EBAY, BUT ONCE INSTALLED CAR WOULD IMMEDIATELY TURN OFF BECAUSE SENSOR WAS NOT PLUGGED IN, AGAIN THANK YOU ANYTHING HELPS. NEWBEEEEE

Adam Korman says:

Sounds very nice! Rich, smooth, and a little “throaty” without being crude or obnoxious… like a well-crafted musical instrument.

fwtikas20 says:

great sound!

HondaTurboToys says:

it probably sounds like a Honda VTec crossover at 4400 because this car does have variable cam timing on the intake side. looks a lot better than some DIY intakes i have seen. the cowl seems to be the best place to get fresh cool air from as well. what was your total cost involved?

Kelu77 says:

You are right, it sounds like a fake video ! The tacho isn’t sync with the sound we hear + it sounds like a K20a2 Honda engine and @ 2:05 we can hear VTEC kicking

tyschoi says:

i swear i heard cams change over at 2:04. Am I imagining things?

JANNOSPR says:

Most intake systems on NA B series engines don’t do anything because of that restrictive AFM. However the best intake design for this application is to draw in the denser air from the windscreen cowl. Removing the the secondary resonator though is a problem, it will reduce the torque at lower RPMs. Gains are minimal but have been proven, not a lot though. Most people won’t shift gear high enough anyway!

accordv6er says:

CANNOT WAIT to get this engine in my N/A…

accordv6er says:

Probably cracked the welds on his manifold. In the famous words… Doesn’t matter if you win by an inch, or a mile, winning’s winning.
Anyone else not able to type winning fast without typos? it’s like a verbal stutter with my fingers

Michael Strickland says:

What is the black tube part (ovbiously has air filter in it) what type of filter and box …I want one how did you do it

JANNOSPR says:

Lol yes double clutch on a synchromesh gearbox. Enough said

FAIRZ says:

sounds like a mustang

huwbertoo says:

hes joking, thats a quote from fast and furious lmao

ilovecats748 says:

It sounds like VTEC at 2:04 lol

Mr330d says:

it looks very like a bmc cda but could be wrong

Mr330d says:

double clutch LOL the car isn’t that old he is an idiot now a day’s you only double clutch a tractor or lorry

iamhereforever says:

is there a whole kit you can buy? also had a accident with my mx-5 🙁 now being restored…..

DepakoteMeister says:

You boys talking about double de-clutch changing, that went out when we got synchromesh in gearboxes! And it was only done going down the box, not up!

kablatcher says:

Great sound.

PsuPepperoni says:

what brand is your air filter?

tran06 says:

You should be double clutching so we can hear how awesome the induction noise is.

netager says:

I guess I overreacted 🙂 You know how “lambo” owners are on youtube 😉

6HPATW says:

It’s a joke dude. sounds good though. Bummer you guys have to clear you master cyls, RHDs are much easier.

netager says:

This video is about intake and not my driving skills. I bet you started double clutching when you were in your moms belly.
Explain me why I should double clutch on this vehicle, samrta55?

6HPATW says:

granny shiftin’ not double clutchen’ like you should

netager says:

Search miata net for “diy randall”
I wish I could put intake resonator back, but there is no room for the stock one.
The benefit of this intake: sound, throttle response, air forced to the intake at speed, colder intake temps.

netager says:

Don’t know about power gain, but it sounds great, throttle response seems to be better and intake temperatures are definitely lower…

Sam Hall says:

thats a nice setup i might try it

did u notice any real power gains?

TopdownMX5 says:

Having the intake opened up like that really lets you hear the throaty music from the engine. Nice job.

littlebadger says:

Excellent idea. I may design my own.
