Heck, check out all of the info. you can find on the 2005. I have a “library” of stuff on my car that I researched on line. When doing so, I remember seeing a lot of recall references to the 2005 model and problems that Mazda identified and should fix for you. I know you have many more problems related to the repair shop you mentioned but to deal with them (or Mazda) with the Recall/TSB info. in hand sure will keep them from charging for things that you don’t have to pay for. Good luck!
Sorry to hear about your multiple problems. I have a 2003 Mazda 6 and I don’t know if this will apply to your vehicle. Anyway, Mazda issued a recall awhile back about the cover separating from the socket holder on the fog lamps for the 2003 models. Their fix was to place a retaining spring in the assembly to keep the lights from blowing out or causing a short. I recommend checking any Recall/TSB info. you can find on the 2005’s to see if there were any problems with the lighting or shorts.
