at 3:49 they talk about changing from 3rd to 4th before 60mph. Surely they
mean 2nd to 3rd?

Wheelnut78 says:

Both cars are great fun but I would pick the Elise because I love the looks
and the BRZ is becoming too common now. I would also be less likely the
throw lots of money at the Elise in modifying it, I would go nuts on a BRZ.

FightScienceAa82 says:

I would pick the Lotus Elise over the BRZ without having to think about it.
It is a far superior choice.

iZxBuEnO says:

id own the brz, better platform for modifications IMO

bliglum says:

Subaru BRZ or Lotus Elise.. That’s an easy one.. It just depends on what
you plan on using it for.. As a secondary fun car for the weekend corner
carving and track use? Elise hands down.. But if you want a fun to drive
car that’s also very usable as an everyday transport, the BRZ’s got the
edge.

Andy NEWBOLD says:

The discussion on the availability of part for the Lotus is a nonsense.
Because NOBODY scraps a Lotus, they last forever and SOMEONE will always
manufacture all of the parts.

mysuperliam says:

I’d rather have the subaru, the lotus is way to Low for my comfort

ratcat17 says:

I love my little Lotus to death, no-one will ever take it off me and no its
not my daily driver. My X5 BMW is for daily. Its just so much fun to drive
and I get my kicks watching the look on slack jawed yokels going “look maw
that’s some fancy lookin automobile that there is!”

c5natie1 says:

If you want an actual sports car that can handle, why go with such an
underpowered car like the BRZ? Takes all the fun out of it. No balls
whatsoever. So many more options out there, c5 corvettes, bmw z3 z4 m1,
s2000, he’ll even one of those mb slk roadsters with a kompressor. The BRZ
needs at least 260hp and over 200ftlbs, not the anemic 150 ft lbs or so it
delivers. And I know it can be modified, I’m referring to bare minimum for
bone stock

Cole Platt says:

You have 30,000 and you want to buy a unique elise or an everyday driver
brz? Id take the elise, chances are you will never get another opportunity
to buy one, and honestly if its that impractical just buy a cheap daily
driver as a second car

r p says:

Why is there a video discussion about this? If you’re buying a GT86
strictly for track days then you’ve made the wrong choice. The Elise is an
exotic sports car you stunt on the weekdays and track on the weekends. The
86 you have fun in after picking up the groceries.

DDJ says:

You don’t buy an Elise/Exige for comfort. It’s mainly a race car thus
comfort and options isn’t it’s main focus. This car is also not meant for
drag racing either. This car is a monster on the curves like no other. Tons
of cars are based or developed by Lotus. BRZ has many different names but
all the same technology. Elise is faster 0 to 60 by 1 second. If you want a
faster car then hands down its the Lotus. If you want comfort and
options…BRZ. If you want a car that will get attention everywhere you
go…LOTUS. I’m 6ft 250lbs and fit comfortably in the Lotus Elise. As for
long drives…not so much.

encinitasdad says:

I bought an 05 Elise this week.

Live in So Cal, and work at home, so very little bad weather, no commute.

My wife is going to hate it, but hey. Let destructive and expensive than a
mistress.

hacker pro says:

There are less of the lotus problems if you live in the uk it’s possible to
go to the lotus factory and get parts

MuggShotGaming says:

Love the BRZ but if i had to chose id go w the Elise it looks better the
front of the BRZ/FRS looks like it was made by a blind monkey. And if you
get the Elise the only part of the brz you will see is the front in your
rear view. BRZ is good for getting the ass end out but thats about it. Sure
the brz will hold your golf clubs but id rather drive a car then a golf
ball anyway. If you hit a deer in any car its done. Hmmm supercar
performance vs minivan 0-60 times its a no brainer.

d1skreet says:

The Elise is a great second or third car, but not something you should get
for daily driving. I loved my Elise, and it was both incredible fun to
drive and a privilege to experience, but I recently traded it in for
something a bit more… grown up.

If you just want amazing handling, the BRZ is a great fit. If you want an
open top, get the next gen Miata. If you want a kart for the street, that’s
when you buy the Elise.

11033066099 says:

Are parts for the Lotus REALLY that expensive and hard to come by?? I
really want 1 but this review has me skeptical.

tony nguyen says:

1 lotus = 3 Brz ?

Anson L says:

A lot of opinions here from people that have never owned a Lotus
Elise/Exige or spent time in one. First of all, you CAN daily drive it if
you live in the proper climate. It’s not a car that I would drive in the
snow but it does fine in the rain given the correct tires and shines in the
dry. There are many people that do daily drive their Elise. The car is not
that hard to get into. It does require you to get in differently than a
normal car but it is not as hard as what everyone makes it out to be. I can
see it being hard if you are a 300lb man. It is true that there are not
many creature comforts but everything that counts is there. You got power
windows, AC, radio…what else do you need? If you are used to a MB or BMW,
then this car isn’t for you. If you want a pure sports car, this is it. Car
are generally not great as an investment. But if you follow the market on
these cars, they have only been appreciating in value because there is no
other car out there like it, period. Bottom line is, if creature comforts
rates high on your list, get another car. If you value pure performance,
get the Lotus. This is coming from a guy that owns a Lotus Exige.

RASHID Nor says:

Car review with no physical cars on sight.. Just watching them talking..
MOST BORING CAR REVIEW VIDEO I HAVE EVER SEEN.!!!!!!!

silverfd says:

if you can mod a brz to have about 350-400rwhp, id take that over an elise

-Ri ft- says:

id just buy a focus st, its faster, cheaper, more useful as well.

TheRaguORagula says:

If you haven’t already, do a BRZ or e46 M3 or E30 M3

mechmat12345 says:

I’d get the Lotus if it had 3 more inches of legroom. But it doesn’t, and
that’s a disqualifier to me. I’m not super tall (6’1″) or big, but tiny
cars like these are uncomfortable to the point that it’s not enjoyable and
I’m not going to buy an uncomfortable car. It’s the same thing with the
S2000 everyone like to bring up. I don’t care if it is the best performing
car ever, it’s too small inside.

Jason Hone says:

I picked up my 2008 Exige S 240 last fall. Love this car! I am 6’2″ and I
fit fine! This car is as much fun to park it in front of the mall and watch
people’s reaction to it as it is to drive! This is not your ordinary car!
Comparing it to a Subaru is kind-of offensive.
You can use it for a daily driver but I don’t recommend it.
My daily driver is a MINI Cooper JCW aftermarket piped & tuned!
My Mini is a rocket and handles like a dream, but still does not compare to
my lotus!

markd514 says:

this is soooo lame. They don’t even go outside and show or drive the real
thing! It could not get any worse than these guys….so bad.

Joseph Gauthier says:

Lotus all day BRZ doesn’t even compare

Adam Othman says:

who says you can’t drive the lotus daily? if you sacrifice comfort for
driving pleasure then go for it! its got a diffuser on the bottom anyways
so nothings in that much danger

William Gabbert says:

Simple; Would you rather date Barbara Walters or Jessica Alba ?

RidesTV says:

The Elise is much more of a drivers car, even though the BRZ is very
capable. I would still take a third gen MR2 though…

Ryan McAllister says:

I’d pick the Elise over the BRZ any day, but my real dream is a 2007 Lotus
Exige S ;)

Cole Thomas says:

Whats the name of the song at the very end?

Jeff Kroll says:

#6 reason I love my (daily driver) Elise:
It’s appreciated about $2k in the year I’ve owned it. Try that in a
ScoobyDoo.

As far as storage space, my wife and I packed for a 3-day trip up Highway 1
along the CA coast and had no problem, even with the soft top in the trunk.
We averaged 29 mpg, too.

Firearms says:

Buwahahahaha!!!!!!! Too funny.. the FRS SUCKS. I’ve got a better idea. Get
an MR2 Spyder and swap the 2zz-ge in.

Jack Flynn says:

Just get an evora. Still small and light but you have power and a little
shelf for luggage

Steve Petry says:

Imagine what the BRZ will sell for used…

rehman abdul says:

can i use Lamborghini gallado exhaust on my lotus Elise ??
