the pond guy.

You know the itching is getting crazy ! I was out in the cold turning over
the raised beds getting ready for Veggies lol! Would suck if you were
planting Rabbit poop lol

Orchid lover says:

Sorry, but I don’t think those are blue lotus seeds! 🙁 There is a blue
lotus called the nymphaea caerulea, but their seeds are wayyyyy smaller, I
actually hope i’m wrong, but I really don’t think those are blue lotus
seeds, sorry. :(

Horton Noah says:

Hi bill, I live in canada too and I REALLY want to grow these. I’m going to
try and buy some off of eBay but I was wondering… Where did the seeds you
bought come from? Most of them on there are from china, and I don’t want to
end up paying duty when I go through customs. Recommendations?

1965Akasha says:

On hard seeds, I use coarse sandpaper.

Tamara Previtali says:

I’m laughing with you on that bag.they could’ve been a little bit more
selective on what they use considering not everybody is marijuana friendly.
lol

those are really cool and I love the packaging haha. Now I am wondering if
they would do well here in the desert as we get plenty hot, maybe too hot
:)

lindsey Bonham says:

I wonder if a small amount of peroxide would helpin not having to change
the water as often? Maby do an experiment on one of them?

orchids plz says:

i use a small triangular file to make a hole. how long until these seeds
bloom?

happybuddyperson says:

Someone shipped you seeds in a weed baggie? Strange.

Chun Fu Tube ☉‿☉ says:

dishes?

Colton Schultz says:

if you didnt know you need to throw away the floaters because they will rot
and cloud the water something HORRIBLE!!!

how things are coming along and what comes next with the seedlings.

1065Olivia says:

I ordered seeds from Thailand years ago and had good success rate. I used a
dremel tool and held the seed in pliers and sanded down until you start to
see white then stopped.

Robert Casey says:

Nice Weed baggies

Snarky Grin says:

What’s growing in that bottle? Looks like a Starbuck’s frappucinno bottle.

Papa Smurf says:

I really enjoy your videos Ty… May I suggest using kitty liter from
Walmart the non scented and non clumping works great with planting lotus
and safe for koi ponds…

Andrea Canlla says:

This video gives an easy tutorial on how to plant a lotus flower. I can’t
wait to try this myself

sissy murphy says:

Instead of opening them all you have to do is sand off the pointer edge of
the seed .i have grown 20 of them in the last 5 years .Lilies and lotus
seed s can all be grown the same way .I put them in a wine glass in my
kitchen window this way as the stems grow they have support from the tall
wine glass.I also plant them after that into 100 % clay kitty litter

Sagara Snyden says:

I bought some pink lotus seed’s a month ago, but I didn’t try planting them
yet. Your video will definitely help, so thanks. I’m going to try a metal
file instead of a knife though. BTW sorry if I’m hard to understand, I live
in Germany and English is my third language.

West Winds says:

What kind of heating pad are you using, where did you get it and what does
it run?
Thanks, :)

Craig Ellis says:

I’m itching! we got more snow tho…. hopefully it will stop :)

Austin Webb says:

The best way to scarify the Nelumbo nucifera seeds is with a coarse-grit
sand paper. I usually grind both ends down until I can see the endosperm
(the white inner part of the seed) and its always a good idea to wear
gloves while scarifying the seeds, just in case of a slip-of-hand. Then you
can soak the scarified seeds in some water until the leaf seed erupts!

betty munoz says:

can I use tap water or what kind?

Natania van Dyk says:

Enjoyed this 🙂 very informative and made super easy 🙂

Nick S. says:

Actually the blunt side is the part you want to cut or file at since that
is where the plant will send up its leaves. But in my experience usually
doing it backwards works also since once you get water into the shell it
becomes softer and eventually the seedling will break the shell. But
usually you want to aim for the blunt side. :)

john buck says:

was woundering how many of each seeds u have left and how ur lotus is
growing

orixaguy says:

You’ll chop all your fingers off and then how will you garden, my friend?
Get rid of that knife and simply SAND both ends of the seed until you see
the lighter color of the embryo. A coarse sheet of sandpaper will do the
job and leave your nurturing hands in tact!

Jeannine Story says:

Its great to see how enthusiastic you are about plants 🙂 Thanks for
sharing. I have grown lotus from seeds too. I live in Trinidad (in the
Caribbean) so its nice and hot here. My method is to rub the side of the
seed on 80 grade sandpaper this has worked well for me. Don’t know the
exact name of my lotus but the flower is a double, quite large and its
pink. Maybe I will make a video too soon.

Robert Cohen says:

I used a small belt sander. Just sanded off the pointed end had 100%
germination! Thanks for the great video!

Will William says:

Very fun and interesting !! Looking forward to see how it grow and
blooms..Thanks for sharing Bill :D

Ashious Mann says:

blue lotus i do believe has psychedelic properties. ancient Egyptian
priests and priestess would ingest it in an attempt to experience altered
perceptions as well as communicating with their many gods.

Samoh Kul says:

Some years ago I grew seeds from ANCIENT EGYPT which were the size of
grains of sand. I had a horrible time with them. I got ONE to grow and
now they are very widespread in my plastic pond outside. Nymphaea
caerulea. Yes it grew but it was incredibly difficult. ONCE they are
adult plants they are easy to care for and virtually impossible to kill LOL
🙂 You see on ancient egyptian art people holding this lilly.
