Ibraheem Monks says:

Thanks so much for the vid, I’m kind of nervous cos I havn’t ever repaired
my phone before. Thanks again for taking your time to go through it all in
detail ;)

Jason Becker says:

Good tutorial with just a fee points for people watching this.

1: Don’t worry about time and date it was wrong because you are on airplane
mode and pulled out the battery. I’m sure it was right when you went off
airplane mode.
2: You removed way too much stuff. I fix phones for a living and this looks
a lot like the LG G 2. All you have to remove is the back pieces and the
battery. The bottom screen flex will come out WITHOUT removing the charging
cable and the whole bottom. As far as the top flex goes it should come out
fine without removing the main board.

Basically the steps needed are remove back pieces. Remove battery. Remove
top and bottom screen flex cables. Carefully heat up screen and pull it
out. Then put adhesive and snake new one in and reassemble.

You might have to play around with the ear speaker for the top cable but if
you are careful it will come out without removing the logic board.

But all in all good tutorial and glad it got fixed. You should call this

Hey Stephen. Matigus from the forum with the wonky looking screen. I’m
working on the battery right now… and I’m really worried about bending
it. But so far great, easy to work with video. Thanks!

ghilliemovies says:

You are my hero! Had some trouble with the wire running from the speaker
pad to the main board, but if your plus is broken just buy a new screen!!

Antoine V says:

Mighty fine job! I don’t know why I haven’t seen this video until now.
Watching it and reading the comments made me realize that a full
disassembly may be a bit excessive for a screen replacement if you don’t
plan to reuse the screen you’re removing.

The earpiece may not be as easily damaged when the screen is removed as
other phones because the earpiece port in the chassis does not fully expose
it to a heat gun’s heat, not to mention removing it is probably riskier
than not, because it can fall apart. I suppose it goes both ways; removing
other components both increases and decreases the risk of damaging them
during the repair process.

I didn’t want to take any chances removing my screen without removing that
gray block obstructing the digitizer flex, because you’d have to tilt the
screen at an angle in order for the cable to come out. That would require
the whole screen to come off the chassis first, but I don’t think I could
manage that without damaging the LCD or glass.

Anyways, great video! Would it be OK for me to put it in my XDA thread?

Amanda Davis says:

Thanks! I used this video to replace my screen over the weekend. It took me
almost 2 hours but I got it done.

julian king says:

How long did shipping take? And when you say the colors are different do
you mean in a noticeably bad way?

stefan adams says:

Saw your post on the forum. I dropped my phone the other day and now half
the display doesn’t register touch input. The bottom half works fine. Where
is the best place to buy a new display to put on

justin bergmans says:

Was it possible that the digitizer wasn’t the same jdi display that the
company uses for the phones? Might explain why the colors look off. Anyway
great video.

Bitcoin Embass says:

Anonymous Alex says:

how long did it take you to finish replacing the screen?

ketul patel says:

Hi I recently cracked my Oneplus one as well. It’s not that bad. It’s just
one big crack going across my one. Any suggestions on what I should do.
I’ve been talking to oneplus and they just want to see photos. And do they
really charge that much? I thought there was some sort of warranty plan.
Can get back to me as soon as you can. Thanks.

Oscar van Leusen says:

Any ideas on what the copper was for in the end then? Did your old OR new
screen have any of the touch issues (multi-touch, responsiveness, etc)
before you broke it?

Thomas Minkoley says:

Thanks, Stephen. You made my day :-)

David Dalziel says:

Hey Stephen, what icon pack are you currently using??

Wesley de Vries says:

Hey Stephen, thank you so much for your video.
So my screen got cracked too unfortunately. What would you do:
* Get it replaced with an original screen by OnePlus (for 170 dollars)
* Replace it myself by buying a new screen incl. midframe (90 dollars + 30
for taxes)
* Replace it myself without the midframe, thus having to separate the old
screen and midframe myself (80 dollars + 30 for taxes)
* Sell the phone and get another one with “normal” warranty.

flod943 says:

You only replaced the screen digitalizer and not the whole lcd? did your
touch work before the switch or was it all dead?

Anthony Wagner says:

What scares me is that you keeping saying “I think” and you don’t sound
very convincing. Did you actually replace the screen or did you just buy
another phone.

ryan huntsman says:

make a review video of the new screen!!!! I want to get mine replaced but
would love to see how the new screen is working out

MrGrov777 says:

Thanks for a great video! One issue, the new screen will not pop in. Do I
need glue or something?

tipo80 says:

Nice tutorial, Stephen! I’ve followed each step but I’m currently stuck in
step 15. For how long did you use the blow dryer to loosen the adhesive?
I’ve been using it for half an hour but the screen still seems to be glued
to the midframe. Thanks, dude.

mei lam says:

where can i get a screen + LCD replacement for a decent price?

ketul patel says:

Ok thanks a lot! So oneplus doesn’t cover anything? Because on the warranty
and repairs section on their website, they said they cover everything up to
a year?

Isaiah Mallard says:

Nice video man. Appreciate you doing this to inform you’re viewers on the
replacement process.
