I have the 180 HD and when I plug it in and turn the switch on nothing happens. The fan doesn’t turn on, the gun does feed the wire. I’m running 8/2 wire on a 40 amp double pull breaker out to the receptacle and the machine is getting juice cuz my tester shows the power cord is hot when its plugged in. Whats going on?

homesteadprepper says:

This is great example of a troll comment, nothing constructive.

andrew cannon says:

This video is a great example of how not to learn how to use a welder. Welcome to the gettoe !!

jouxpane says:

you’re a tool. I’m guessing you’re 12 years old.

Cary Grant says:

For most stuff I’d rather stick weld with my powerarc welder. Mind you, a big roll of flux core is pretty convenient for long welding sessions because you don’t need to swap in a new electrode.

mikecwiklinski says:

Because it is yours does not absolve you from liability and somebody saying it is easy and displaying these skills is just a bad example. Just like preparing for the zombie Apocalypse by stockpiling stuff is. It will eventually run out and you will be left with your skills. The skill of living in the brush with nothing is what is needed not learning o/a skills so you can weld after an emp.

spade narcross says:

i agree completely. i have a Lincoln 100 110v flux core i got 12 years ago that never seemed to do good now that im experienced and educated 12 years later that machine i though was a paper weight is a godsend. all u need is to know how it works and u can do anything. might take longer (more passes) but will be just as strong if you get a gust of wind or run out of gas you end up with porosity. so if ur not a body man or shop fabricator. flux core is awesome. just need to learn how to use it

spade narcross says:

shut up welding master he did a good job considering. has absolutely nothing to do with liability. its his mower and he obviously isn’t stamping it or being inspected. its a good example for a beginner or diy job

jay watts says:

bought my lic 150 bout 3wks ago brand new w/ wrty and ag exempt, plus a 1yr old discount $577 !!! marked dwn from $777 !!! don’t know if it was a good deal cause liv in small town ! I just knew I needed it ! miller was $250 more !!!!!!!!!!!! also harbor tool mig welder $300 had for 15 yrs and still works but not as good anymore !just tried of stick welding ! w/110 generator can go any were on farm !

mikecwiklinski says:

Not great suggestions….and not great execution. Failed welds have consequences. More liability than information.

homesteadprepper says:

Wow! I just took it for granted that most people could flip the switch to the “on” position. I guess that I underestimated you. Why don’t you post a video showing how you pay someone to mow your yard and how to turn on a mig welder. I am sure that it would indeed be a very entertaining video by you because, I can tell from your comment, that you have nothing but goodwill and intelligence oozing out of you.

heavyweight23 says:

what a stupid fucken video…what? does the welder turn on by it self….didnt even show how to get the bitch started…and get a new lawnmower you fucken asshole…keep ur stupid videos off youtube…

ManBlairPig says:

slip an earplug over your wire when you got to feed it in keeps it abit cleaner

john michna says:

i have a linclon 100 mig wilder, i bought it around 92 , i use it in building rat rods and other trucks motorcycles,i like it very much, you just cant weld good the first time , you need to practice, practice, practice, it saves alot of time

Winnie Lessin says:

Get a multi-process welder and you can MIG or flux core weld, or stick weld or TIG weld depending on what needs repairing. I use my PowerMTS welder as much as I can. TIG welding comes in handy.

kimchee94112 says:

You need the option K610-1 MIG Conversion Kit. I use flux core wire only, Lincoln .035 innershield NR-211-MP, ED06363. Never had a problem with this baby in 20 years, nice little unit. You could weld up to 1/2″ with flux core but I never needed anything this thick. Lincoln makes good stuff.

Mark Stevansen says:

Best decision I’ve ever made was buy my everlast welder. You are absolutely right. Why buy if you can make or repair yourself. Thanks for the video. (and yes, I wear earplugs too).

vambreace says:

i have the Lincoln mig pro 135. and i already weld up to 3/8″ with .035 flux cored wire with very good penetration. of course have limitations. for power works Lincoln sells larger units. but for home, farm repair or light fabrication this machine is great. i have welded many projects with it. only the mig pro series support gas shielding. the weld pak series is only for flux cored wire. but you can turn in gas shielding. only adding the parts the weld pak dont have like gas selenoid and hoses

EastendBillythekid says:

Man nice video seeing how it works very clear and and nice little demo thanks..

storts1 says:

But At least he has alot of common since!! ,Just look at him using the adjustable wrench and a pc of Pipe, Instead of a sledge!! And NOT KNOWING WELDING, I NEVER saw in ANY Of Linc, Or Any ones owwers manuals, to grind metal Shinie Clean,That comes from Guys like Us!!,,Who do it for a Living!!,, But when, I watch them Preppers Shows, Im Lost, compared to ,i wish My Shop, was Big enough to Make so of those “Condo” CONTAINERS!,That People are spening there life svings ON!In The RONG BUIS!BIG TIME!!

TooTrue2 says:

first time I welded, I just had goggles… ended up with one hell of a sun burn on my face… and terrible welds…

Wade Goggin says:

Thats a good idea, I wonder how many people dont do that.

TooTrue2 says:

I blink right before the spark…never see a spot…

Wade Goggin says:

The problem with Auto dimming is, you still see the arc. The light is moving… at the speed of light, the electronics that dim the lense react after it is detected so light has already reached your eye. I know it sound like nothing to worry about but if you see a spot afterwards, you have done damage.
I wish they made a lense that starts at a level 5 and auto dims to level 11 or 12.

Jesse Medrano says:

ITS MADE IN MEXICO OR CHINA ,

TooTrue2 says:

You should try an automatic dimming mask. Once you use one, you’ll never go back. I picked up a basic $60 one and love it. Improved my welding 1000%

roberto25721 says:

for mig/mag welding always remove rust or paint to bear metal if possible or you wont get a good weld tough thats just what I a Welder thinks lol

kmrjeep says:

Ive had my lincoln 100 running flux core wire for over 14 years and only thing ive had issues with was cheap wire and sometimes welding thicker materials while running off of long extension cords. As far as wire goes i stick with the lincoln wire it allways lays the best with this machine make also sure it is flux core wire if your running it using mig wire without shielding gas its never going to work and the wire speed on flux core is slower usually 2 is a good start point on this machine.

castle1076 says:

Kudos on the vid… Thanks for NOT using shielding gas. When prepping it will be easier to make 120 volts than find shielding gas once you run out. Practice, practice, practice. Thanks for the vid… I wish more would attempt the art of no gas.

jamesostensen says:

Is shield gas and purged gas the same? and is there different wire for different welding?

Ronnie Godfrey says:

The weld breaks at 7:08!!

samantha vergara says:

Did anyone want to buy a lincoln welder..

keltingr says:

Grind the paint or use stick welder, that weld won’t hold on painted surface

Bryan Max says:

Will try it back again, thanks

SouthWestIron says:

I’ve got a weldpak 135 it is more than capable for stuff around the homestead. I’ve built heavy duty metal boxes with it up to 3/8th inch steel. Splatter could come from wrong settings, dirty steel or even too long of an extension cord. Even using an outlet thats running other items on the circuit could cause that. Don’t give up on that little welder just yet.

Bryan Max says:

Thanks HP, I will take it into the shop. I bought the flux core 10 lbs roll but not getting justice at all, its very weak

homesteadprepper says:

The welder in the vid is a Weld Pak 100 Mig. I just use the flux core wire and i have successfully welded 1/4″ mild steel with the thing. Your welder might have some problem with it. I recommmend that you have it checked by a shop. Good luck.

Bryan Max says:

I have one exactly like this, what i want to know is, is this Lincoln 100 a MIG welder or is it just a wire feeder welder. I bought it cheap and then spent some more$4 on a 10 pound wire but I’m totally not impressed with this welder at all. Its a spitter just like the one in this vid, no real power at all. This thing is a toy and not a real tool and I feel that I totally wasted my money on it

mayjafeez says:

omg thx for that earplug warning

decadence18 says:

as a professional welder and have used that exact same machine with flux core, only a couple things, with flux i find it welds better by pulling the bead, and like u said i would be better to grind the paint off first. but hey do whatcha gotta do and get the job done.
