Hey how’s it going.I have a 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calias 2 door.And I
have been working on changing my starter for the past 2 days.My Q is I have
come to a brick wall.I have removed the passanger side header and starter.I
have the electric wires bolted on the new stater and resting on a block of
wood so the wires don’t pull off the starter from the car.I have had some
Problems with holding the starter with one hand and trying to run the bolts
in with the other hand.Well after about 8 to 10 times trying this I still
can’t seem to get it bolted on the engine block.My arms are worn out and
shaking even while typing this.Can you help me solve the problem.Thanks and

I have 2005 honda cr-v , I have changed starter two days ago and todays
moning the car woun’t start and there was no light on dash board either.
and I had some one check the car and he found one of fuse ( ignition fuse)
blown out. when he tried with wire for the fuse location the dashboard
light came on few second and turned off again.
What could be the possibility? bad starter, electornic line proble. please
give me advice

Hey scotty on my 2010 dodge charger sxt with 121k miles it runs fine and
theres no codes but every now and then it cranks excessively but always

Hey Scotty: First off thanks for your helping us save money$$$….I have a
2004 Kia Optima that has two issues:1 Drivers door won’t open from inside
or out. 2. On again-off again starting. After 3-5 mins the car starts
again. Pleas help me.
Scotty, have a quick question. 98 chev cavalier, last few months when
starting it will start to turn over, then bog down and make a clicking
noise (solenoid) then kick in and start. Last night it seems it gave up
the ghost and I get a click, then hear a whirring noise under the dash. It
will also reset the time on the radio’s clock to default 1 am. Luckily I
was on a slight hill and was able to pop the clutch (gotta love a manual
transmission). Batter has 12.6 volts but I don’t have a load tester. Does
this sound like a starter or electrical issue? The other odd thing is that
when I did get it started (had to do it in reverse but I don’t see how that
can be an issue) the emerg brake light and ABS light stayed lit. Any
thoughts?

Scotty, I have a seemingly stupid question. My Chevy truck is 18 years old,
my only means of transportation, and I have nobody to rely on for
transportation. I have replaced the fuel pump, brake lines… recently,
alternator (this week), etc. The one thing that is likely to strand me is
the starter. Would it be stupid for me to replace it for the sake of
reliability when it still works? The one on the truck looks original and
would only cost me $70 to swap it. The first time my fuel pump failed and
stranded me it cost me $500 and the next time only $58 when I did it myself
when the check valve failed but did not strand me. Thank you. Great videos.

Hi Scotty! What do you recommend if there is a bad clear coat scratch going
down the whole car side. It was a tree branch and it was buffed out but it

Hello Mr. Kilmer. As an alternative to the power probe instrument, can I
use a clamp on ammeter to measure the current passing through the power
wire that goes to the solenoid? If so, is there a typical current that
indicates the power is sufficient? Thank you.

Hi Scotty, I have a 2007 Durango, I believe it is the starter because the
battery is 2 years old. Is a truck starter change the same as a car? It is
4 wheel drive, does that make a difference?
Scotty. 2004 grand am. Replaced the battery and starter. Alternator is good
also but car still won’t start. Any ideas???

Hey Scotty. I have a 98 Chevy Suburban. And i drove it out to take the
family out for pizza and it started and drove just fine. but when i came
out after eating, I tried starting it, and it made a single loud click and
nothing happened.

You have great helpful videos. Recently, my 1995 lexus es_300 doesn’t turn
on at times in the mornings it takes me up to 3 minutes for the engine to
start. I replaced the defected battery, but the problem is still there. I
thought it was the starter so I went to my local auto zone to get it check
and it passed with flying colors. The employee said it was very common for
toyota vehicles. Can you help me please?
