keep in mind i am no mechanic. i got a 02 LS, had a severe squeeking issue
on my front end as well. initially some scrub told me my front suspension
was done for. came to find out all i needed was a new ball joint on the
passenger side, greased the swaybar, absolutely no noise now. also ive
found out that some spring in the driver air bag, can disengage (via a
wreck) and push down somewhere on the steering column making a very very
slight groan when turning at no or low speeds.

D. Holleran says:

I have an ’02 Lincoln LS and had the same issue. You can replace all of
these parts yourself. It isn’t difficult, it just takes a little time. You
will also save a lot of money by ordering the parts new off of ebay and
doing the work yourself. Here are the parts I replaced on both sides of the
front end; *Outer Tie Rods (part moving in video, replace 1st) *Lower Ball
Joint (Rent a press from an autoparts store, replace last) *Upper Ball
Joint w/Control Arm (replace with struts) *Struts

Eric Heath says:

Have you tried banging the tops of the tires on the sidewalls? This will
indicate if the upper control arm bushings are okay. As far as you twisting
the outer tie rods, that is normal. Let me know if you can duplicate that
noise with my suggestion. -Eric.

Sway bar bushings wear out too, check the sway bar for “play”, also the
control arm bushings (the ones bolted on the frame) technically you need to
replace the entire control arm if those bushings are bad, those are very
common to mess up, the part that youre constantly moving is called an outer
tie rod, the proper way to check them is if they have any play by pushing
them in with a pry bar.
