Hey Chris, here is a tip. My 98 Windstar wiper left a spot which skipped,
as in didn’t even appear to touch the windshield. I change blades several
times and thought the blades were defective. I even switched to the solid
all rubber (no frame) Bosch..no luck. Then it hit me, I bought a new wiper
arm for two reasons, 1 – to try to fix the issue above, 2 – they looked
like crap, faded, rust spots, etc. Installed and kept by Bosch Evolution
wiper blade. WOW what a difference, no problem above fixed, and man are
they ever smooth plus they dressed up the ole green machine! I just ordered
the passenger side because that looks even worse but functions. Those
springs in the arm wear out from being stretched!

Since my car now 17 years old and I am sure those were the original wiper
arms, maybe you can give a tip to others on the removal and installation (I
would but you are the man!). Had to manipulate the arm, it is not quite as
straight forward since the arm has small splines and can be frustrating to
remove without a mini puller tool. Also I had to re-adjust the armangle
because it kept hitting the cowl hard. Anyway hope this helps those DIYers
in Youtube/ChrisFix land!

Thank you! My old windshield wipers sucked, they just smeared the water
around making everything blurry.

I apologize I didn’t see your play list. I asked if you can do a video on
this and bam it was already there.

Had replaced Toyota blades with a premium winter blade, then these didn’t
work when I was in freezing drizzle. Sorry don’t remember the brand name to
advise. The plastic bracket that goes inside the wiper arm hook broke when
I tried to loosen the ice buildup by letting it hit against the windshield
from about 5 inches. Luckily I was able to have it in place loosely, and it
worked to get me home.

In replacing this junk, I had difficulty getting the old passenger side one
off. I had to use a skinny screw driver (or letter opener) and go into the
wiper arm hook to push the tab outward, in order to get it to release. (Had
tried pliers to squeeze it together but that only made it worse.) Something
overlooked in this video.

The winter wipers where the flexible plastic style, as opposed to one that
simply covered the typical wiper with a rubber sleeve, and the blade was
just as skinny as the normal summer blade. I might look for other winter
wipers where the blade is much thicker, as I had good experience with that
type in an older vehicle.

Hope this helps someone.

Winter is coming! Have you checked your wiper blades? As trivial as it
might seem, good wiper blades are an extremely important #travel safety
precaution.

I actually did semi struggle at my local automotive parts dealer on a dark
rainy night putting wipers on some half dozen years ago. Funny how these
things can be quit fiddly when you don’t do it often.

Your video s are the best.My wiper does not hold tight against the
window,Do you know how to fix it? Thanks ,Again realy good video s

zx8401ztv says:

Nice, and you had your arm on the inside of the wiper so there was no
chance of the bare metal end slamming into the window 🙂

Im dissapointed, i expected a row of tools and jacking one wheel of the car
up at least ha ha :-> just being daft :-))
