Very good video! It’s worth noting that the Mark V power window uses a
plastic gear has 41 splines for cars without vent windows and 45 splines
for those with vent windows.
You are a legend! Thanks so much for this fantastic video. I bought a 79
Mark V recently and the driver window was not working. Thanks to this I was
able to remove the door trim and fix the issue (vent window was not in the
track and had fallen out). This week I got the car serviced and during this
the passenger window stopped working! It was exactly this problem, and with
the right tubing in the motor (not copper…my first try!) its now working
perfectly. THANKS AGAIN!
Just completed the repair, a few notes to add to this excellent video. I
drilled out the three dimpled marks with a 3/8 drill, used a 1/4 inch drive
with a long extension ( about 8 inches ) and a 5/16 inch socket. The
extension will fit through the hole, reach inside the door and slip the
socket on and do your removal and later assembly. Lots of room for working
in the door. Grease the sliders and gear unit and will be as good as new…
