Cool tip. I need to do the same thing

Blazer02LS says:

On most of them the solar is there to assist the batteries while you are
actually welding. The batteries do most of the work.

FYI that RS iron is actually an Iso-Tip 7971 SolderPro 50 They take series
7992 tips. Iso-Tip has the best prices on them.

My helmet has replaceable batteries, I had replaced them with the correct
ones, the problem I am having is it works when you look at the sun but as
soon as I go to weld it will not darken. Any suggestion would be greatly
appreciated , Thanks

Nice! I hate soldering irons they always take for ever to heat up the
solder when u have to be careful not to overheat something! Use them all
the time with rc stuff! Great job and great tip!!

NICE!…sir.

Jeffrey Bean says:

Nice Job. I think those are primary cells (batteries) so they are not
rechargeable. They would probably be lithium batteries, not lithium ion.
I could be wrong though.

WaveAction777 says:

Better than new in my opinion. Don’t know why they didn’t manufacture it
that way.

Dan Whiteford says:

Does it auto-off if not being used, otherwise what stops the batteries
running down please?
