Done this pain in ass job myself in the past. Dash out, must be to reduce manufacturing cost, otherwise there must be a better way. Last time I had core failure was on a LandRover. Must admit, I had garage (auto shop) in America, to do the work.

when I was a kid I helped a guy in the auto wholesale business. this was about 1990 in Orange county Ca. Every Crown Vic he got went to Mexico. One of the few used autos that could be transferred I believe. They paid top dollar.
