Coolant leak fixed with STOP LEAK (Bars Leaks) on a Ford, Lincoln 4.6l engine.

Is coolant leaking around the manifold on your 4.6L Ford, Lincoln or Mercury engine? I fixed mine with Bars Leaks “liquid copper”. Two different mechanics fr…

Additives may stop minor leaks but usually don’t stop major leaks. Its like
putting a band aid on a cut. How severe is the cut?

Derrick Owens says:

Was the resevoir nearly empty when you put the stop leak in it, does it
need to be? I only ask because (I believe I have a small leak in a 03 ford
taurus) my coolant level isnt drastically dropping but I did notice a lil
fluid on the oil pan underneath & the spot where I park at is a lil damp as
well..

Jo Lee Armitage says:

I sure hope this will work !! my 2002 Marquis is leaking at the same spot
after overheating a month ago. I am going to try it today, to hopefully
save me the cost of a new intake & my boyfriend installing it. It is his
car.

UrbanBoondocker says:

Thats great to hear friend. Thanks for the feedback.

John E says:

worked on my 98 Grand Marquis! A leak developed on the manifold by the
front passenger side injector right next to the coolant sensor. This stuff
sealed the leak almost instantly! I was about to spend $250 for a Dorman
manifold kit and do the labor myself but this saved time and money! Thanks
for posting this vid!

UrbanBoondocker says:

I had to add another half bottle about a month after the first one but its
still holding up. 393,000 miles on this car. its my daily driver.

malaska91 says:

i have a 4.6 crown vic and the radiator temp when i begin my trips will go
up to 3/4 then go to 1/2 could that be because of a leak some where?

Tolderius Destalinius says:

Well, I wouldn’t count out not needing a new manifold until you know for
sure that the stop-leak worked over a long period of time. Nonetheless, I’m
going to try this out! Better to spend $10 (or whatever) on stop leak than
$300 on a new manifold (plus busted knuckles) lulz.

AutomotiveVlog says:

Put this stuff in my 20 year old econoline radiator. Stopped leaking for a
year before it finally blew up. I say it’s worth it Delayed me replacing
the radiator for another year.

UrbanBoondocker says:

That alone doesn’t necessarily mean a coolant leak. has the gauge always
behaved that way? 3/4 sounds high. Check the plastic reservoir near the
radiator- you should see ADD and FULL marks on it. The coolant should
always be between those marks, if it drops noticeably from day to day you
have a leak somewhere.

K Cooper says:

I have a ford expedition, used this stuff when I saw coolant leaking! and
it was an instant fix! Awesome Stuff! 🙂 Thank you for this video!!

bicmyflic25 says:

stop leak????? man im about to have someone replace my shit for like 450.
You must have something different going on than me cuz they told me I
basically have a huge hole and you can even here it hissing.

UrbanBoondocker says:

Your welcome. $300 is alot of money. Let me know how the bars leaks works.
Remember to do exactly per the instructions on the bottle. Thanks for
watching

UrbanBoondocker says:

What kind of vehicle? Engine did you use it on?

cvbhoustonprez says:

So do I put the bars leaks tge same place as the coolant

Brian Hipple says:

this product is horrible and the customer service is even worse after it
clogged up my radiator I tried to get help and they were very disrespectful
and wouldn’t refund my money…I know 3 other people that this happened to
also..STAY AWAY

UrbanBoondocker says:

Yes its still working, I had to add another half bottle about a month later
but its still holding coolant.

Karen Howard says:

I’m definitely going to try this with my 2005 Dodge Caravan. I just
received the news that the intake manifold was leaking coolant and the
estimate was over $300. Thanks for sharing!

UrbanBoondocker says:

Thats great to hear. Glad I could help you out.

UrbanBoondocker says:

Sorry for the late reply but yes- if the coolant reservoir on your car is
under pressure. If its not under pressure add it to the radiator. Remember
to follow the directions on the bottle.

313lethedude says:

That stuff lock my engine up

Benjamin Johnson says:

$900??? What the heck car do you have?? It should only cost you maybe $150
and just install the new radiator yourself..

UrbanBoondocker says:

Your welcome. Thanks for watching. Im sure this stuff will help- especially
if it just started leaking.

UrbanBoondocker says:

I sold the car last week but yes it was still holding up. It is amazing how
a $10 bottle of stop leak can fix that. My neighbor has an ’02 Lincoln that
he put stop leak in almost 3 years ago and its still holding he says.

malaska91 says:

it prolly isnt the 3/4 mark but it still goes up kinda high not into the
red though. it only does it once and i only noticed it recently i did go
through the records though and the coolant is about 7 years old

strokeofirish1 says:

Plastic/aluminum radiators are cheap but last only 3-4 years ,copper goes
for $425 plus install.on my 1996 jeep grand cherokee.

lamar4150 says:

It’s working for me I have an 03 crown Vic it he plastic intake was leaking
by the thermostat housing I watched this video put the full bottle in
followed the direction and it worked I check the fluids daily and the
fluids are of level…I give you a big thanks because I probably would have
sold the car because it is a big/expensive job so with that said thanks
buddy!!!!!!!

cvbhoustonprez says:

Will try this today

strokeofirish1 says:

Used yesterday leak has stopped! No need for new radiator, aka $900.00
repair.

ThumbdownMan says:

That’s amazing. Still holding up?

peakay2002 says:

Still working? I actually had a mechanic suggest that I try this today.
Otherwise the repair is around $400. Let me know…thx!

mskoffeebrown says:

Thank you so much for this video. My husband has a 2000 Ford F150 Harley
truck and was told he needed a new intake. I looked around and found the
Bars Leak and was wondering if this would work for his truck. It just
started leaking and we don’t have the money just yet to have this large
repair job done.

UrbanBoondocker says:

Your welcome. Im glad it worked for you and thanks for the feedback.

UrbanBoondocker says:

How could it lock your engine when it doesn’t go inside your engine?

lamar4150 says:

Yea you helped tremendously
