2017 Lincoln MKC Broken Outer Door Handle. Attempted Repair Pt. 1

The customer pulled the outside door handle off this 17 MKC. Although it does not appear to be broken I could not reinstall it. I took the driver door handle off to compare and had difficulty reinstalling it as well. Video shows window regulator removal and latch removal.
pt 2 is here…https://youtu.be/yLN3kh18wCw?feature=shared

Everything is made for production line speed not to take apart. The bumper CANT be disassembled without breaking parts or the bumper cover itself BUT goes together easily.

Some newer style handles require a "fishing line" wrapped around the mechanism in the door to pull it out to get the handle "pins" behind it?

Now I am wondering why Ford is not giving a full description of exactly how that release device works. Maybe they should supply a link to your video.

Merry Xrtsmas brother with the family.

I was thinking if you could wedge that spring mechanism open with a piece of wood you would be able to slip the handle into those release prongs. Then pop the wedge out from inside the door. I suspect the release device got bent when the handle got pulled out. You would have to make sure the handle was reliable for high effort door openings.

What a crazy design! I never would have guessed that removing a screw and replacing it would be so technical. Am I glad you posted this! Looking forward to part II, Phillip.

Trying to fix a broken part vs simply buying a new one. Nothing like being stuck between a rock and a hard place!
