Shit…… I could not agree more!!
I should of kept my 2011 Impala, with 47,000 Miles only $17,000!
That’s what happens when you fall in love with a 07 Escalade! !
I know dumb choice Big Time! But the way the Black metallic Escalade was
sitting ! though! Had to grab it!

Juan Lara says:

That’s why I like the 2000 Infiniti g20, it’s luxurious yet it’s cheap to
fix.

Yewon2001 says:

I got lucky I have a 96 Audi A4 and year the parts are a little bit more
but thanks to Ebay I’ve been able to get some good deals on them for
example I had to replace the coolant reservoir and the dealer wanted 60
bucks for it I got mine for $20.50 thanks to ebay.

Thanks ebay

maldo72 says:

Just replace it with a regular version shock of a similar model

Sin sin sinner says:

A car for $300 should be in a dump are you kidding me $300

Michael Flores says:

+Scotty Kilmer If you wanted a luxury with a good aftermarket and decently
priced stuff, whats the car you would get? 10,000 or less

Tristan102100 says:

just bought a 1981 toyota pickup for $300. i put in 4 new spark plugs and
drove it off the trailer!it’s been a few months and ive replaced all 3
mirrors, did a bit of bondo, tore up the carpet( seats are in great shape)
and cleaned the carboretor and did a bit of bodywork. i have $400 total
into it right now, and i have leftover industrial paint from a tractor i
restored! it is a well running driving vehicle that is cheap to drive with
120k miles for about $500 total including paint! i am 15 too so it will
make a great first vehicle. my grandpa gave me a ’97 f-150 lifted 4 wheel
drive and a v-8 that needed a front lower a-arm. i decided that would cost
too much to drive, but i live on a farm, so i still need a truck. so thats
where the mini-truck came in. the most im gonna be hauling are building
materials or an ATV, so it will make a great home depot truck and give me a
ride to school.

speedkar99 says:

The exception to this is buying luxury cars based on the same platform as a
mainstream marketed vehicle. This is where the benefit of platform sharing
vies in favor of the car owner, i.e. mechanical parts shared between the
luxury vehicle can be cross-referenced with OE (and therefore aftermarket)
parts from the mainstream vehicle. Maintenance, reliability, fuel economy
makes the car just as cheap to run as the base car, except you get to ride
in luxury and have the brand name cachet.
Only proprietary parts such as body and interior parts will be more
expensive and dealer-specific.

Y10Q says:

yeah but understand that some people make $800-$1000 a day without breaking
a sweat. Those are the kind that buy those cars new. They won’t feel any
pain when they spend a week’s worth of work for a clutch repair. I feel
sorry for the suckers that buy em used at a discount. They will go out and
spend 95% of their yearly wages on a used Mercedes or Lexus, although in my
experience, used Lexus isn’t even that problematic. Compared to say Jaguars
or Audis. At least Lexus always starts and moves. A Jaguar wont even start
at all. Bad shock absorber, you can still drive the car…. But if it
refuses to start, thats when you have to fix it.

Djonkie Bonk says:

I agree with this. My neighbor bought a 2006 Audi A8 for $17k but forgets
that he’s still going to have to repair/maintain a $100k car. Car has been
good so far and if he DIYs he will save some money but hopefully he is
ready to take on a possible expensive repair.

WOKELoganJB says:

My mother owns a 2007 Cadillac STS, would you say it’s expensive to
maintain? It’s a GM vehicle, the same with my 2007 GMC Sierra which would
cost me about $400 for each shock, sounds like they are trying to rip me
off with over priced shocks. Would it about the same price to maintain both
vehicle? Unlike a Import vehicle which seems more expensive to repair
because they come from overseas, GM vehicles are made in America and I live
in Canada so shipping prices aren’t so much. Sounds logical or am I wrong,
Scotty?

Martin Teerly says:

Car and part makers are greedy that’s why it’s expensive to fix our cars

wizkid3726 says:

if you have the money to buy an aston martin or rolls than $9,000 is penny
change for you.

mathew Kane says:

I work on boats, I thought you would’ve said it cost 3k.

I thought $300 is quite cheap, you put that part on a boat and it suddenly
costs 10 times more.

samurai1833 says:

Yes it’s expensive but the ride difference can be worth the extra expense,
ALWAYS get the longest most comprehensive warranty you can afford. It will
pay for itself fairly quickly!

kroonaf says:

i live in Norway the most crooked country in Europe , i needed a new
starter for my Subaru and i went to a dealer, the dealer said: we dont have
it in Stock right now we gonna have to order that , its gonna cost you 6000
NOK ( almost a 1000 dollars) so i said to the dealer: thats almost half of
what i paid for my car so you can just keep that. So i went to a buddy of
mine who’s dad sells parts , so he ordered the exact starter from a
Company in Germany and i got it a week later total price 1000 NOK or about
160 dollars and he still made a good profit on that starter. car dealers
are crooks if u ask me

Jerome Baller says:

Lol i love how he always creeps out of a trunk or out of nowhere, so funny.

pei bossman says:

your telling it “like it is”, Scotty…

joe blow says:

“don’t even think about the Rolls Royce”

bogeytu says:

I have a 2002 bmw 330ci Oxford green. I put on new front and back brakes
pads (ceramic pads, no brake dust. Wheels stay clean) new brake pad wear
sensor, front and back and put on new rotors all the way around. Parts came
from rockauto.com about $350 for all the parts. Installed a new radiator
from 1-800-radiator $150. They deliver it to your door in like 2 hours.
Installed a water pump with metal impeller off eBay $30. Altogether i spent
$530.00, it’s easy to work on the 3 series.

guy lashsks says:

How about an Acura TL ?

rambo4war says:

That’s why i love my Lexus IS…just a trimmed up Camry. 99% of the
service is at Toyota; only thing I have done with Lexus is the AWD service
and that was only $700 @ 66K miles i think that’s a fair trade off;
everything else has been $60 or less and zero brakes in over 4 years. Zero
maintenance problems as well. Tires are cheap; OEM rims and after market
rims for the 08 is cheap as well. Lesson here is if you buy a luxury
car…buy 1 in demand and have a non luxury mechanic take care of it or do
it yourself…and take care of your ride, they don’t break often if you
drive sensible and have routine service.

ppham lann says:

yes u bright my bmw x3 suck ,it cost a lot to maintenace the car

Abdulai Bah says:

Great advice!

Zack Zander says:

I only buy genuine parts from the dealer service department for my
vehicles, but this video is totally true. A lot of people just cannot
understand this. They think they are getting that 2011 BMW 325i for a steal
at 10K but it will drain what is left in their wallet fast

Christopher O'Reilly says:

Sometimes you can get shock absorbers rebuilt, if that is cheaper than a
new one. But overall, if you cannot afford to maintain it, then its not
worth owning. The exceptions are BMW’s, most common models are the 3
series, parts are cheap if you know where to look, often cheaper than
Mitsubishi parts.

Jared Tate says:

Hey I just subbed, love your videos!

know.
going to be doing brakes, minor servicing myself.

DOLRED says:

It’s not only the big tag vehicles as you know… I Bought a 2002 Chev
Tracker from a US dealership in late 2013 for $1,800. Looked like the
previous owner lived inside the vehicle. Cleaned out enough coffee stains
on the carpet to fill several pots. It’s obvious the center console has
shallow inserts not worthy of holding a coffee cup well, so all the fluid
went under the front passenger seat. Also very minor body work–hood and
right fender. We completely emptied the vehicle to clean it. The
appearance of this ZR-2 would run off customers, so I got it. Now it’s
great. DOWNSIDE= find out it is really a Suzuki and Suzuki left the US
market in 2012. The parts are tough to find. Thank goodness for the
internet. The last major buggy issue is finding the short in the headliner
wiring to fix the dome lights!! I found all other necessary cosmetic parts
at a local yard. Mostly plastic trim stuff for the door thresholds etc.
I love this tough little 4 wheel drive vehicle!!!

Ian TheBoss Manubens says:

In my experience, my 2005 Lexus RX 330 is running amazing! No problems so
far… Except, the dashboard is cracking and the window molding fell
off…. all known issues, and Lexus is thinking about repairing them. Have
you seen this issue before? what do you think?

GravityWarpDrive says:

Just talked me out of buying a Lexus! Thank You Very Much!

David Chambers says:

Luxury cars are over rated at best as you said. Sport cars seem to be the
same.

5point0guy says:

bought a 89 f150 6 cyl 5 speed for 500 bucks..put some ball joint in it and
a tie rod…..cold a/c and fir ehot heat…and over 300k on everything
original…runs like a top and uses no oil…i think ill choose my old
truck over nice leather seats and all those fancy electronics

prouddaddyofdos says:

I test drove a 2006 BMW 750 Li today & the check engine light came on, so I
drove it to Autozone to run a check on it & the code P0420 came back on it.
It drove great & the engine sounded good. It also had 90,000 miles on it.
Should I pass or see if the dealer will fix it because I had told them
about it & they said they would take care of it. Any helpful advice? Thank
you!

grettagrids says:

my mother is looking to purchase a 2007 vw pasaat. I told her she’d be
better off getting something more common, Pasaats can get expensive to fix.

DBZisthebestanimever says:

The Toyota Crown is more luxurious than any lexus and it’s a Toyota. Too
bad Americans can’t drive RHD cars.

Jahed Shakoory says:

What about acura’s are they bad luxury ?

brunoraoni says:

”And remember, only buy luxury car if you can afford them.

VF1Skullangel says:

You should look at the repair bill for a Lamborghini Diablo sometime, a
friend of mine owns one and often he’s putting $25,000 every two years into
it. It’s my dream car but I’m thinking of building a kit car instead.
