TOYOTA I LEXUS I 1UR-FE I VALLEY PLATE COOLANT LEAK I GX460

This is my first major engine job. The valley plate can be worked as DIY. The key is to take your time and remember where all things are supposed to be. Here’s the link below for what tools and parts are needed to do this job. A few issues with the 1UR-FE engine are the valley coolant, cam tower, and front timing cover leaks.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I just did mine over the last four days!

@GB013-gns says:

Dear, to give me an idea, please answer me, for example, how much fluid was lost in the last month before the repair?

Hello from Abu Dhabi, I just can't thank you enough for the excellent/detailed steps you posted on the forum, it gave me courage need to go ahead with the job.

@JohnSample-h6n says:

Should there be visible coolant in the valley or is the presence of this a sign the gasket was leaking??

@Fred_Durst1 says:

what year is your GX?

How in the world does that transfer tube even seal? Looks crazy loose.

Wonder if Hondabond would do a better job then the toyota rtv. I need to do this on my wifes 460 before it starts to leak. I have also read that its recommended to install a new heat exchanger while you're in there.

@agustinvilleda7961 says:

please share a list of part numbers of every thing that u used on this job.

@KelzCasa says:

I was honestly not looking forward to this job thinking it would be a pain, but looks like all you need is a little patience!

@supergrendel says:

IDK why everyone uses SO MUCH rtv. Literally like 1/4 of this is all you need. You have 2 completely flat surfaces mating against each other. That RTV is going INTO the valley plate and cooling system now.

@RB26_2JZGTE says:

Crazy how this is common on 1UR, 2UR and 3UR lol

@brianperez6343 says:

How did you remove the clips from the knock sensor harness

@brianperez6343 says:

I’m coming up on resealing it, so do I install the new gasket sealant and torque it down right away?

@brianperez6343 says:

What clip are you talking about behind the intake manifold? We got the fuels off but something is still holding it

@brianperez6343 says:

How did you remove the orange fuel clips off the intake manifold?

@tonylwright says:

So does this need to be done again and again since the sealant is the same as what they use in the factory and it degrades with mileage?
