The Lexus That The Dealership Couldn't Fix is Finished! I'm Sad and Happy at The Same Time

The Lexus That The Dealership Couldn't Fix is Finished! I'm Sad and Happy at The Same Time

We discussed the story of this 1994 Lexus ES300 that the dealership and a few other shops couldn’t fix. Now it’s the day before delivery back to the owner as the car is 100% fixed and it’s making me a bit sad.

This car has been in the shop for close to 4 months and through all the work we put into getting back to running well I truly have grown fond of it and while i’m happy that it’s going back to it’s owners who are very happy and excited to get it back and running well, I will miss it dearly because it’s truly a special car in exceptional shape.

first of all youtube is doing this channel "dirty" I NEVER unsubscribed so why was my subscription cancelled? Second and more importantly… it is an ABSOLUTE OUTRAGE that lexus would send a youtuber with the level of prestige in the toyota kingdom such as the Car Care Nut channel a demo of a PREMIUM PLUS GX550…..!!!!??? What the Actual F??? That is the highest form of disrespect possible. At the absolute minimum it should have been a base overtrail or a luxury plus…. or what this channel deserves…. the fully loaded overtrail plus. Make this right lexus or i'm cancelling my order.

I drive a 99 es300 with 290k on the chassis and 130k in the drivetrain. I really love this car and hope to get it well above 300k.

You breathed new life into that old Lexus you saved a car worth saving. Very cool part story.

@tigerteff015 says:

If only all garages had guys like this.

@denvernn says:

I noticed the power antenna mast in the ES300 trunk. Coincidentally our 1 owner 24yr old RX300 needs one. Hopefully its still available from Lexus.

Is there any awesome mechanic like you that you know in Colorado LOL

Special feeling when you fix something nobody else can fix.

That engine doesn't sound good!

I had a ‘93 Camry LE. I believe that IAC Valve is the same one. When I first bought it years ago, My problem was stalling while in reverse. I took it to multiple shops and they couldn’t figure it out. The culprit was a clogged EGR the whole time. You’re absolutely right, it took time for myself to find the problem.

@BesprovolkiSvias says:

I do not get one lesson here: while being afraid and shaking from fear of naming the "aftermarket IAC manufacturer's name" (for the fear of prosecution, I presume?) you still managed to flash the name. I wonder why would you be in such fear of legal prosecution for apparently no legal reason. Here is how it works in courts: if you speak the TRUTH, no one can prosecute you for TRUTH. This is how it works in Free Democratic countries. It appears that you are using some strange experience from Communist countries where they prosecute people for speaking the truth. But be assured, you are not going to be prosecuted in our Free Democratic country for speaking the Truth. You can mention names if you speak the truth (more importantly, if you will be able to prove in Court that your statement is the truth. This is the only thing that matters.)
Example: New O'Reilly' s alternator that I got for my 1994 Land Cruiser kept failing. It's voltage regulator's rectifier kept failing on road bumps. I kept swapping new alternator every month until I fed up and returned it forever for full refund. O'Reilly smiled and kept saying "But it's got Lifetime Warranty. You can keep swapping alternator forever, every month, wasting 2 hours of you free labor every month". I got remanufactured Toyota alternator from dealer and it runs well for many years now. And I take them to court if they refuse to issue refunds and I always win. I have never lost a case yet. Instead, I made 600% profit if they decided to fight in courts. People on forums write, freely, without fear of prosecution, that O'Reilly, NAPA, AutoZone and such use the same remanufacturer and that's why their alternators fail. And they DO have right to write it in order to prove or disprove these statements and expect a response from a business.

Any young person today would be gifted to be an apprentice in your shop. You have made automotive repair an art form.

I have a 2000 Lexus ES300 with only 125,000 miles. Bought it for only 3,500 bucks last year. Did put some work into it but was worth every penny.

@montestu5502 says:

Too bad the owner didn’t have the original parts the other shop replaced with the junk parts. I’m guessing they are perfectly fine.

@charley95sheridan44 says:

This tells me to start buying OEM Toyota common parts that wear out for my 2 Lexus's. One is a 14 and an 18 and I'll keep them till the end. If I never use them I can always sell them. I've always had good luck with Bell Lexus of Scottsdale and they're usually cheaper than my local dealer. I'll be asking Amd what to buy at my next service appointment this summer.

@derekp6636 says:

thanks to your videos I know if its a sensor/important part, just go to the dealership parts dept and get the OEM. Faster to get the right part done the first time.

@simonfowler7561 says:

Many car dealers er stealers dont have 2 percent of your kindness, knowledge and dedication. THANK YOU!!!

@Andyaero says:

Don't know what is the deal with aftermarket sensors these days. Some time ago had a Nissan Maxima in work with the idle issue. Car went through 4 (FOUR!) aftermarket MAF sensors and every single time car was throwing a MAF related fault and was running like s**t until we actually got OEM sensor from the dealer. What a nightmare it was troubleshooting wise. Can you image? You suspecting a faulty part, you replace it and everything still points towards the same faulty part, and again, and again…

@budmaksw8966 says:

Thanks for , as usual, interesting story of repairing beautiful old school car. Each of your videos is like lucky end story. It can't be in different way if mechanic is a professional like you.

@DavidLeane-cp2lz says:
