denver bevins says:

The leaves are a sign of an old mouse nest, or at least preparations for one.

Eric Beard says:

Im amazed how well this car works after 600k miles and abuse

MKuki1 says:

Second hand transmission, or convert it to manual transmission, I suppose it's going to be a very long video, or two, with everything extra that you need to do. But what you decide, take the old one apart, so we can see what a 600000 ml looks like inside.

Tony Hamrick says:

I acquired some Toyota Dexron III for my 1995 LS400 4 speed tranny, and changed the fluid at 285,000. Mine seems to like the Valv..blue bottle Dexron III for the powers steer, and next time I may just use the blue bottle Valv…. for the tranny which also is in my 90 4Runner Pwr Steer system. My teens abused the tranny, and the car didn't waiver. Stock size tires didn't last …. I have bought used oem parts and have been pleased. Nothing in the parts store compares

Chad Ely says:

100% go with used. Then tear down the old one and show the wear/failure for a video.

Rhodey Plays Things With Strings says:

Had to do lock motors on my GS400. I vividly remember those rods being a complete nightmare. But the assembly is nearly identical. I did it cheap and got the motors from eBay and cut the actuator open. Worked like a charm.

cloud says:

you really think that trans is still good after all those miles? time for a new one

idigbebop says:

Pro drill lube from a machinist: IPA, (isopropyl alcohol) in 16oz spray bottle and two tablespoons of Cetearyl Alcohol pellets or chips, sold by the bag on Ama. It will dissolve in the IPA. You don't need oil, you want to cut and cool. Drill slowly (less than 400rpm) while maintaining slight pressure and spraying the IPA until you see chips forming. Got a tough job like drilling out a bolt ? use only a carbide bit aerospace quality drill point drill. Always start small like a #30 and drill up in size for the best chance of success. Never overheat the area by chattering with a dull cutter, you will crystalize the surface. If you don't see chips in the first few seconds coming off the drill point, change the bit.

SSP Adair says:

I had the license plate bolt brake on my Sequoia. I just replace the rivet nut and bolt. Was that not an option on this Lexus?

Walter Bowen says:

I, being OCD too, love the cleaning activities…when it meets your standards, it has to be right!

dozerman53111 says:

I would get that 45 thousand trans in a heartbeat. Great video btw. Learning a lot from you, thanks

cpfb68 says:

If you can be assured that the used one is from a reputable seller and may have some sort of warranty, go for the 45k used one. There are no more trans rebuilders that can do a lexus trans justice

Mike Robison says:

i really admire how you know and use your tools.

Bryan Torres says:

Put the used tranny in there

92Pony says:

A used OEM trans w/45k?? No-brainer right there!

William Stokes says:

Go with the used OEM for sure. Love your videos and this series especially!

Hendrie Nel says:

Buy the 45000 used transmission

Goodold Ct90 says:

I agree with other viewers put in a used good transmission, and check out before installing. Thank you for restoring this classic LS430. I’m learning so much, because I own a 03 LS430 w/ 203k miles.

Adam K says:

I guess the car has seen flood, hence there is that type of dirt within inside of dashboard.

James Tobler says:

Your liabilities are your greatest assets.

Jason Valerio says:

Try to stop the leaks. Keep going. But buy used unit perhaps Incase it gets unbearable.

CM says:

I think realistically if I owned this car and was paying for a mechanic to do, I'd opt for him to just put in a used transmission.
