Brian David says:

I do think they make it difficult to get filter out on purpose like U said
cause most people will bring it to the shop cause it’s a pain to do!!!!

Brian David says:

Yes it is hard to get out the filter but it can be removed with out
removing the wires as U show if u bring it towards the fire wall between
the last 2 intake pipes to the fire wall U can slip it threw and slip the
new one threw that’s how I do it all the Time on Mine which is also left
hand drive.

t dub says:

i just remove the dipstick of ATF . what kind of brakes do you have on your
is300

Daniel Rosenblum says:

I dropped the oil filter and unbolted several bolts on the under-cover.
Then put the new filter on top of the cover and pulled it up to pop it on

Sergio Achard says:

I have changed my oil filter in a same model car and yes, is hard to remove
filter without disconnecting other parts, but is possible…it just take a
little patience and play with the open spaces to get it out and to
re-insert the new one. And this is done from above (top) NOT from
underneath the engine…don’t believe what some you tubers say otherwise.
Good job and thank you for posting this video.

wayu vaj says:

the way i remove the filter on my 03 is i use a sheet of sand paper because
it is very frustrating and narrow to grip it by hand or rag but with sand
paper to grip the filter, it comes off very simply. the way i get the
filter out is i just bring it between the groove of the first and second
intake manifold and it comes straight up.

Alexey Gavrilov says:

yes totally agree with you, thanks for your comment…

Alexey Gavrilov says:

thank’s for advice will use sand paper next time… you got some good video
about lexus is300.. perfect vid…

polkceleron1 says:

Very Good detail. I look forward to seeing some more videos on this car. I
just got a 2002 IS300, and I’m just learning how to do the schedual
maintenance. Good job1

Vaginiti5 says:

I will confirm this THIS is is the filter from HELL! its angled weird hard
to get your hand down there and its very difficult to get a wrench on it.
Also there a hose slightly in the way. I got it with out moving any other
parts. I used a claw filter wrench with the handle facing forward You are
only able to turn the filter approximately 30 degrees at a time. But you
only need to do it 2 times to get the filter loose then you can hand loosen
it. I got a relocation kit the first chance i got

Alexey Gavrilov says:

thanks’ man… =)

Alexey Gavrilov says:

i’m glad that you liked…

Vaginiti5 says:

you can also remove oil filter in the back by the brake master. you need to
angle it and rock it a little bit

appa06 says:

I have no issues removing mine from the bottom.. Depends on ground
clearance, but simply move the small line to squeeze it through.. I used to
remove from the top years ago by prying the engine over a little.. Bottom
is much easier. -my experience

Zach Payne says:

It is hard, I have very big hands but i manage to squeeze my hand down
there and untwist it, so it’s not impossible

Alexey Gavrilov says:

5W30.. Maybe your IS300 is a little bit different location of pipes, wires,
connectors underneath, i spend 1 hour when i just bought my Lexus trying to
remove filter from underneath i can’t even reach him with my fingers from
underneath… only from the top ;-(

Ismellurpoo says:

Bottom is easier if you have the car on jacks. Since the video owner only
did a partial jack, there was no way he had enough clearance to be under
the car to remove the filter. Thus, accessing it from the top was his only
choice, and removing some parts was needed. Good video and instructions
Alexey, The oil change for the IS line is a pain. But I wouldn’t trade it
for the world. I would rather have painful oil changes than painfully
broken engines. The Lexus IS is a very reliable car.

Alexey Gavrilov says:

your Lexus have steering column on the right mine on the left… that’s why
you have less components from the left side underneath and oil filter is
easier to access…

Alexey Gavrilov says:

The best video i ever saw for lexus IS… Good job .. keep it this way!!!

polkceleron1 says:

I was told you can access the filter by turning it sidways and pulling it
through from the bottom, above and over the lower A arm back towards the
transmission. Have you tried it that way? I have an american(Left side
driven) IS300.

Alexey Gavrilov says:

anyway.. it’s not that easy to access filter on this car… most of the
cars like honda pilot , dodge neon, mazda 626 it was very easy

Vaginiti5 says:

Oh actually sorry. I have a 5speed i have no trans dipstick

Alexey Gavrilov says:

thank’s… i have this car for 1 year aprox… will post as much as
possible.. any questions about this car ? please ask..

Alexey Gavrilov says:

i do believe that other you tubers have had a hard time replacing oil
filter on this car but that do not want to confirm it…

Renan Pinto says:

awesome video, i needed the help and now received it. thank you sir!

kolrobi says:

You can remove the filter from underneath and dont need to loose or remove
anything part of the engine under tray, I always do that way. What oil you
use?

Alexey Gavrilov says:

😉 but still it’s kinda hard… plus this car was in a small accident
maybe engine dislocated a little bit that’s why in my case is harder then
in yours… 😉 =)
