Good post. The person you are referring to on Clublexus is ZGone. I was
able to replace my woofer following this vid, but was unable to fully
remove the door cover. It appears you were not doing this either. I was
able to gain access to the speaker, and remove it so it worked in the end!
Thanks for the post!
Great video. Thanks men
Exactly – I was going to offer that advice as well.
Thanks man, glad it helped. Wish the video was better but I borrowed one of
my kids cameras..low resolution. Wait till you have to fix the
antenna..when it breaks off in the antenna motor…
Great video. Thanks. the two new foams from Simply Speakers were $25. 3
points I would add are 1) it’s not necessary to cut the tape from the
plastic tab, just push end of tab out of mount hole towards you to get at
the top speaker mount bolt. 2) Remove the speaker wire connector then by
squeezing the plug which has a spring loaded clip on the thin far side. 3)
Use an I20H star bit to remove the speaker face plate mount, makes the
whole job easier than trimming the foam …Thanks for posting vid
@shagz5959 I am not familiar with the rx350 speaker layout..where is the
tweeter located and what size is it? SUV right? What year?
can you tell me how i can repair my tweeter on my rx350? its making this
fuzzy noise, and don’t really want to take it into the lexus dealership
No problems. Sounds great so far.
thanks man!!!!!!!!!!!!
Informative video. When we repair these here, we remove the plastic trim
from the speaker frame so the new surround mounts properly to the frame.
Then we re-install the plastic trim. This method also prevents any cutting
or trimming of the new surround.
Thanks Paul for the informative video. Please educate us and post more
videos when you work on your SC 430.
Yeah, I learned that from another clublexus forum member …after the fact.
If I have to do it again that’s what I will do but there is no way I would
fool with it again unless the speakers start to sound bad. Right now they
sound great. Thanks for commenting though. I am a happy customer.
Nice vid. How long is it holding up so far?
look at 1:38 into the video…showing my tweeter cover..just a plastic
triangle cover. If yours is similar then it just pops off..just do it easy
but no big deal. I have been looking for a replacement speaker for your rx
but may end up looking on ebay. Once you find it then just unscrew, plug
and play.
Thanks from me too! Took me 2 hours but I am not very mechanical. Hour and
half for the first side then 30 mins for the second (learning curve). Do
yourself a favor and buy new speakers. Repairing 10 year old speakers is
not worth the labor time as they will likely not sound as good as factory
new. I paid 185 each from a lexus dealer on ebay. Sounds great!!
@logistico123 the tweeter is located top of the door beside the side view
mirror on the passenger side. i called lexus up, they are like we have to
replace it with 93 dollars in labour. and oh yeah its a crossover and a
2008 rx 350
I just got an 03 sc430 and sure enough after I got the car home I realized
the fade on the radio was set all the way on the rear as I turned it
towards the front speakers I heard that sound and it drove me nuts ! Im
gonna try and do exactly what you just did ,hopefully its just my 6×9’s
that are bad ,actually it sounds like its only coming from the passeneger
side, thank you very much for posting this im quite sure this trip to the
dealer would have easily exceeded 1K$ ,Peter
Replace my two 2003 sc430 speakers in 30 minutes thanks to your video.
Great job!
After watching your video I can see why you used a great deal of profanity
that repair is a task.I’m so glad I took a extended warranty on my Lexus SC
430. The speaker is covered in the warranty and I’m going Lexus replaced it
with a new speaker.
