I have watched this a few times now! Much better without the music. As
earlier comments, I’ve been looking at the is220d for a while now but was
feared with the possible 5k EGR/rebuild problem highlighted on the Internet
reviews? Would cleaning the EGR valve yearly prevent that issue? Paul.
it depends on serveral factors, check with lexus if they have done a recall
on the fifth injector? if not then it can be done at lexus free of charge,
it could be related to glow plugs, my advise to all lexus is220d owners is
to clean the egr valve once a year, it will save you money in long run, if
inlet mani fold is clogged then it should really be dealt by lexus due to
torque settings, but i would try egr valve clean up first, you will see the
difference. let me know how you get on. thanks
I have noticed a loss of power in 1st gear….could this be linked to a
dirty EGR valve? Great video, never done it myself but am actually
contemplating having a crack myself. Well explained and no useless
jargon…good video mate.
hi it is not 2006 and on Lexus that they have this problem but all diesel
engines with EGR. with German diesels is even worst. Cleaning the removed
parts is OK but scribing the carbon and let it fall in to the manifold I
wouldn’t recoment this unless you have a vacum cleaner. when you start the
car where this carbon go?
Have ran two of these cars now with no issues, If i am right, the carbon
buildup is due to a bad air supply (dirty air filter), to help prevent this
make sure your air filter is clean an replace religiously. I personally use
a K&N filter and do 30k a year with no issues. As another poster stated,
this is a general diesel EGR issue, probably due to bad filters, the black
cloud that car pump out when floored is due to lack of air for the fuel to
combust with, usually due to the filter. 🙂
Hi, greate video, I have Toyota Corolla Verso 2.2 D-CAT 177 (the sam engine
and valvle propably) and till 90k no problem with that EGR valve. But this
year in May during holiday in germany it stuck for the first time and I
payed 230 euro for cleaning. No it stuck for the second time in Italy and
they ask for 90 euro. Now I think to learn clean it myself just in case
brilliant video mate ! i have been looking for one of these car for 4
months now but i recently discovered this egr valve common problem with
these cars that can lead to a 5000 pound engine rebuild which has put me
off a bit , however after this video i reckon i could check and clean the
valve myslef, cheers
