Do us a favor on your personal rigs fellers. IF you or your shop are replacing a radiator and the thermostat housing is open and the thermostat is right there just replace it! I know not all cars have the thermostat in a spot thats easy to do but IF you're there and it's open DO IT. You gotta spend 20 minutes bleeding the air anyway and oem thermostats are cheap! I made the mistake of replacing a radiator and 2 weeks later the thermostat stuck open (probably from clean coolant) and had to redo almsot all my work!
Look at the big brain on Faye!! She went to Harvard, ya know …
Your actual name Faye or do you like the genre?
Awesome troubleshooting methodology.
I'm confused i just look for flow. But you Def got it. Crazy there is 2 thermostats
i did one of those is 200t thermostat it's very difficult to do it with the engine inside the car the difficult part to remove is the turbo cooling lines it took me like 14 hours of hard work
Cool good diagnosis
You're so smart!
Yes TIS is actually a pretty good SI compared to some of the others, not as good as Honda (recently anyways). Good application and theory. I mean, you could have just ruled in the part and replaced it, but where’s the fun in that?
you cant say "hope it helps" thats gear head ryan
You're doing too much! The thermostat is usually always the problem. Checking the radiator hoses is a low tech and easy way to diagnose that problem.
nice werkx. yet,I need help fixing my rollerskates.( when you going roller skating again )
In my case P0128 is Thermostat Rationality for Mopar vehicles. Such a notorious problem that its 99% of the time a bad thermostat.
Good summary
You're a badass!
A little thing I do before installing a new one ! I test in a pan while heating it and a thermometer in water ! Had to many bad ones not to trst
You do better diagnosing then most doctors. Again kudos to your hard work and dedication to details. The fact that unlike years ago where a misdiagnosed thermostat was a maybe a 20 minute job, 12 hours of labor is a hard pill to swallow if you were wrong for both you and the customer. You do great work, keep it up.
Why is the engine being 'too cold' a problem?
Hit it with a hammer, works everytime
Ok..The Code Says " Temperature Operating Below Specifaction"…The Old Thermostat Looks Like It's Stuck Open…Installing New Quality Thermostats Is The Answer…Then Checking The Rest Of The Cooling System For Any Other General Repairs….
.
Two thermostats… over engineered much??
Eat your heart out German cars…
Toyota actually said “hold my saki”
Feeling hoses……nice to know the old ways are still being used
Why would it need two? Interesting.
you're awesome. it's an immediate click when I see a new post
