A Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician Explains dash replacement process and shares some tips and insider tricks on effectively replacing a car’s dashboard without causing issues.
In this video I replaced a Dash pad on a 2005 Lexus RX330. The issue with this dash is a known problem with many Toyota and Lexus models where the dash material deteriorates and has a shiny appearance which glares on the windshield and causes visibility issues.
Now Toyota and Lexus did issue a campaign to replace them under warranty but this car missed that. The owner wanted me to take care of this job so I turned on my Camera and recorded the process to share with you important tips and tricks on doing this kind of work.
Cleanliness and attention to detail is vital when doing jobs like this. I share a bolt counting method that some mechanics use to make sure no bolts are left behind.

Complex job the dash. Hope I never have to do it LOL. Thanks again for a great vid. Greeting from a member. Hereby I honour you as "the dashman".
Great job, I like installs like this myself. Like you say, a clean job and also very satisfying to do and see the end result.
Nice clean example of that Lexus too, the owner cares enough about it to have this dash replaced.
I did that , but with a dash from the junkyard, it was in perfect condition. No need to swap anything
A skilled Craftsman at work thankyou sir.
job done by a perfectionist mechanic
how much does a job like this cost?
Parts
labor
The Lord wont bless you and keep you. You are the maker of your own destiny.
I'd take this over a new Lexus — no question.
I have a right hand Japanese toyota crown that has a rattle and wobble esp on un even road drives me nuts every day
Any advice. The wobble is worse on the passenger side.
Can i have the old one?
Do you have a video on how to keep you factory warranty while working on your own car? Like what you need to have incase something happens
This channel is now my new tv show. I keep desperately waiting for the next episode. I do wish you went through an inspection on this but I guess the customer hadn't asked for it. Another excellent video!
Your the best AMD it's stressful enough with the cost but not knowing it's done right with care.Wish I had shop like yours in northern Virginia.
How many miles on that RX330? It’s in great shape! Nice video
Well brother this one was one for the books very fascinating never really seen anything done like this and you’re the absolute platinum standard for pure quality work always drops my jaw. Indeed my friend you are a trusted source. Great job! Great job filming also Mrs. Car Care Nut!
This guy makes a complex job look simple! How much does this job cost? Any how, he earned his money.
Sir, you are an honor to your profession.
Nice vehicle, see why the owner wanted the dash replaced. He will be driving this vehicle years from now.
Sadly it's hard to find a shop like AMD who is very attention to detail. Personally, I think most of the shops would fail this job. When it's done, probably it looks good from the outside, but inside is a mess.
What a video! I can only echo my admiration as others have done here. You are truly one in a million but trying to have a logical mind I would like to ask a question. Dashes are exposed to harsh sunlight, hot and cold cycles, and eventually suffer cracks, discoloration, etc. etc. Why don't engineers just design a dash where only the exposed portion can be removed and snapped or bolted into place without having to disassemble and remove the entire dash assembly. I am not an automotive engineer and may be way off base. Just curious. thanks
Your videos are great. Thanks for doing an excellent job. I have a question as there is no clear answer on the internet about it. How do you check the transmission fluid level on a 2013 Highlander, FWD, 3.5L engine. Do you check with engine running? if yes, why two marks on the dipstick for cold & hot? I checked the level on a cold engine with engine stopped and the level on the dipstick was way over the Hot mark. Its a factory filled transmission so unlikely that they overfilled, what gives?
Beautiful a piece of art. It is a pleasure to watch you the Car Care Nut do his thing, Great
well done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
