My wife and i are actually giving out 2001 Celica to our niece, as her first car and she’s going to collage soon. Might not be the fastest, but I feel like it’s going to be mechanically sound and safe.
Same engine as the mk III MR2.
I miss my 1989 Toyota Celica such a fun car and I really enjoyed the pop up head lights. It also drove pretty good in the snow in Alberta.

I had a GT for years, what a great cars they really were. I sold it with 280k miles and seriously they only maintenance that I did was changing the oil, brakes, maybe changed the alternator once, a tuneup but that was it.

I have to disagree. The best year for the Celica was 1985 and the best Celica ever was the 1985 GTS. Rear wheel drive, 4 wheel independent suspension…. The best Celica ever made!
1981 Celica gt 22r engine 5spd trans, awesome car for me . lasted for years .
