A 1970s Land Rover stopped working. With zero mechanical experience, we tried to fix it…
This is not a how to guide, rather a few amateurs fumbling their way through a repair. Whilst we had the roof off, we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to convert to a soft top in time for summer. After 20 hours of driving and a ferry crossing we made it to the Farmhouse in France, and are cracking on with an upcoming roof restoration! Subscribe to catch that 🙂

Really nice video but could you seriously not clean that gearbox a bit more before putting it back in..? If the seals are good you couldve pressure washed it real quick, if they're rubbish you'd have to replace them anyway…

Rob Leopold says:

Reminds me of the Pakistani clutch jobs on Youtube….

Rob Leopold says:

Didn't even resurface the flywheel. You'll regret it !!

Philipp Eggmann says:

Awesome Video, Great content! Keep it up!

veevee leo says:

I wish they would have given a real cool wash too

Hal McGinnis says:

A new clutch and a new top isn't a restoration.

espinela says:

Great stuff, brilliant!

MJAC casari says:

"Paint roller extension clutch alignment tool"…You guys are awesome! Really enjoyed this video and great job!! Appreciate the lack of inane music too.

Raymond Allo says:

This car needs a new clutch.
Starts with taking the roof off. Seems logical.

Christophe DiDonato says:

bonjour belle vidéo à regarder – j'ai une question : qu'est ce que vous changerz sur le pont de transmission moteur ?

Andrew Ward says:

Remove the floors and trans tunnel, unbolt the transmission along with the driveshafts slide the trans back and leave it in the car ,remove the clutch and flywheel reverse operation .

Noel Frankland says:

You guys are the most incompetent yobbos ever . You just about pulled the car to pieces taking off so much more than you needed to.You just ripped bits off and wrecked some stuff. Then you didn’t water blast and clean everything you could before reassembling it.I have done this on my own and didn’t take off half the stuff you did.

El Rud says:

2:55 good one champ, really great.

Northernrover says:

Great video! Your Land Rover is almost a twin to mine, except mine is in Canada so LHD. On the upside, in 32 years of ownership I have only changed the clutch once, about twenty years ago, and it is still going strong so perhaps you won't have to do this too often. These are excellent vehicles and are simple to work on. Cheers!

Константин Катенков says:

думал "Как они весь агрегат востановят за 14 мин видео". А никак

Julian Pritchard says:

Why take the roof off ? Talk about making a fiddly job excessive and difficult.

David Coomber says:

Can’t believe you did all the work dismantling the thing and you didn’t clean up and restore the parts when they were out

The Ascender RC says:

Thank you for doing this service. don’t let the Rovers die out!

Yz lover says:

Where did you get your parts

Miltiadis kyriakopoulos says:

I don't understand why rover stop the production of that success vehicle.

OH says:

I enjoyed this so much more than 99% of other content on YouTube. No over-used royalty free music, no speaking into camera making simple statements extremely wordy and long-winded to extend the video length, no plugging fugly carbon fibre effect card wallets. Just great content. Now I need a Landy.

Monty M says:

LOL I wonder if this is why our farm was littered in old landrovers growing up. Dad prob just went out and bought another landrover whenever the clutch went on the current one.

Svatopluk Havryš says:

It is HORROR!!!

mmau says:

Cool video! Surprising, how similar this is to our Defender TD5!
