Repairing the EPB module on a Land Rover Discovery 3/4 for just £20

So the EPB is a common problem with the Land Rover Discovery 3/4 series and Range Rover Sport… Unfortunately it’s a very expensive repair, or is it??

Wimpy takes on the challenge of replacing the gears inside the Electronic Parking Brake Module to avoid replacing it and saving over £1000.

Did you have a "tank/reservoir" just in front of your epb back plate? 2008 lr3 with mine… Either way, thanks for adding and getting me started!

Adrian Cronin says:

hi quick question.did you lower the suspension when you did this or is you raise it ?

Adrian Cronin says:

Hi when you did this, did you not take off the the break lines too

Jay Williams says:

The LR4 EPB box is in a different place. It's removed from above the RHS wheel. Cable runs are different, exhaust heat shields need to come off.

Cristiano Castagno says:

I wonder if one could do away with the EPB all together with a classic lever hand brake ?
An EPB has very little to share in true Land Rover spirit I think, and it’s a nightmare to fix.

Scott Adam says:

Great work thanks for producing this, gave me the confidence to have a crack. Do they salt the roads in the uk? Looks like a nightmare.

pierluigi cicinelli says:

thanks for your video only that I have a 2012 range rover sport and when I removed the spare wheel I found a metal flange you can't practically see the EBD control unit do you know if on mine it can be elsewhere ? thank you

Khalil Razak says:

Utterly crap engineering from Landrover.

Patrick Burgess says:

Just checked your Land Rover Handbrake video and I must say it looks like a nightmare of a job to do. I have the same issue, can you let me have the details of where I can purchase the repair gear sets from. Your are a superstar……

Halkawt Karimi says:

I got 2011 and bought 2006 hand break module for is that fit

Haywire Mike says:

Nice camera work. I didn't pay attention to the two wires on the motor when I pulled them off. Your video clearly shows the orientation of the two wires that was very helpful.

PowerVolt says:

Come on back soon Wimpy we all miss you!

notthatkindofachannel says:

This is one of the worst jobs on this car in my opinion! For such a small thing, the effort of disassembly is immense! But good job!

Lee Meldrum says:

Great video dude I'm just about to start the dreaded job if you can give me any tips that would be great also what grease did you use for rebuilding the cogs and which silicone for making the module waterproof and can you also tell me how reset the emergency release cable and do I need to adjust the module with multi tool to reconnect brake cables. Many thanks Lee
