I just went out and bought the associated drill bits and did this job. It
worked like a charm but I was a bit annoyed that the headless screws then
came out easily even though I I tried everything to get those heads to turn
earlier. Thanks for the tip.

Good video, I was trying to figure out how I was going to do this on my D90
!

@pooperscooper71 Yeah is seems the bottom of the piller gets blocked easily
when it should be clear for drainage, it is the start of some of the
corrosion problems . Recommend injecting waxoyl into the pillar cavity via
the bottom and via the hinge holes once work has been completed.

@pooperscooper71 Glad it helped. My neighbour did the job the other day
just with an 8mm drill bit through the head in one go and i worked just as
well as doing in stages. He dropped the spring retainer clips down ito the
door pillar then retrieved them with a telescopic magnet tool.

@stonefisk I guess I’ll be using that trick as well then. I’m welding in
new top corner sections so I’ll have direct access down the pillar. There
was a lot of crud built up to the level of the first hinge hole. Appeared
to be rust soaked in old kero. No rust in the wall of the pillar luckily so
Im not sure where it came from.
