Land Rover: How To Fix Reduced Engine Power – Clean Your Throttle Body

To improve your gas mileage and performance of your engine you should clean your mass air flow sensor (MAF) and throttle body.

The better the air flows into the intake manifold the more efficient the fuel burns. Also, you want to replace your air filter. A new throttle body cost $300 and up and a new MAF cost $50 and up, while you can clean both of them for under $12.

Just go get 2 cans of CRC cleaner and follow the simple steps in the video and in under 30 minutes, you will improve your gas mileage, vehicle idling rough and gain lost horsepower.

I have an LR2 that wouldn't start aside from the electronical stuff (lights, radio, etc.) I then jump started it and got a "low fuel" warning for a split second and right after that got the "reduced engine performance" message. It ran for a few days, but seemed to struggle starting up. Today it won't start and I got the "reduced engine performance" message again. Do you think cleaning the MAF sensor may solve this or have any suggestions for troubleshooting? Really don't want to spend a whole bunch at a shop and others have said that it's hit or miss if they actually correctly diagnose the problem the first time but you still end up paying even if they get it wrong and you have to keep going back.

Hey, quick question: is it possible to have a "Reduced Engine Performance" due to a flat tire? I was driving on the highway and this 2 problems came at the same time, may be coincidence?

Great videos, really glad I found your channel. Where did you find your repair manual for the lr3?

Very informative, thanks for the vid.

Hey I saw this thing called wind booster, interested to know your thoughts on it or any similar product. It connects to the electric throttle behind the pedal and gives you options to adjust for economy (saves gas), sport and so on.. not sure how it would work with our lr3s..
Thanks (-:

Thank you for an excellent tip, however my problem is my HSE 08 idle only in park. Is this the same process I would have to do?

Hello, just curious as to how long your first set of air spring lasted before you had to replaced them? Thanks!

Again an awesome tutorial video! You might want to do a video to show how to replace the T-Piece connector on the coolant system. They are known to break.
