The Land Rover Defender and Discovery were a big success throughout the 90s, 2000s and early 2010s. They dominated the roads, very desirable, and drew a lot of media attention!
However by the mid 2010s, a lot changed for the Land Rover brand. The Defender was discontinued and the Discovery saw a new generation which abandoned its signature boxy design. Basically its identity went diluted, and the Discovery model lost its popularity, everyone preferred driving a Range Rover Sport or Velar instead (or even competitor SUVs), for the same price tag.
But something happened. The release of the 2020 Land Rover Defender! I reviewed the Land Rover Defender 90.
This 2023 Land Rover Defender 110 has some resemblance to the legendary Defender, but from certain angles, it seems to lean more to the second generation Land Rover Discovery. The interior is VERY spacious, almost unwieldy compared to the cramped interior of the original Defender!
But is it a true off road legend? Or is it seeking to challenge the Mercedes G-Class in long terms? or both?
