Ladder Frame Full Restoration – Land Rover Discovery

Ladder Frame Full Restoration – Land Rover Discovery

Moving forward with the complete overhaul of our 2006 Land Rover Discovery 3 TDV6 after 270.000 km. In this episode, we show how to disassemble the ladder frame and restore it back to its original condition. That was a lot of work. We show in detail how we accomplished this task.

GarageBartune says:

More excellent work, I know how miserable clean a chassis with grinders and wire wheels is, we have recently started using wet blasting with excellent results and little mess

DAVID LAWSON says:

Today I have joined the LR3 family, I just drove 411 miles to purchase a 2008 LR three, I had the courage to get it because of your videos, thank you

stuarth43 says:

also, after 13 years my d4 has no rust even though i live near the coast, seeing cars from Europe , heavily rusted cos ot salt, makes me happy to live here, I.d rather be in France, but then the French are somewhat crazy
probaby NZ would be a great place for LR as they have rivers that you can wade, not like rivers here, that are mud

SCG Funktionsmodellbau Bigscale RC Models says:

Hmmm If i went that far i had replaced all Controlarms with new ones as they are dirt cheap.
i have my Discovery prior to the TÜV floaded with anti corrosion Oil, "Ohne Mängel" but he left the comment on the that there is corrosion on the Frame and so on. Do you treat the inside with something like Tthat?

Eddie Murphy says:

Paul Wyman says:

Automotive sculpture at its best

hakan duman says:

Is this much of rust normal for a 17 year old car?.

Knight 2000 says:

That chassis looks stunning

Charles Hepplewhite says:

Hi again, great work both, any thoughts on protecting the inside of the box sections of the chassis. That diff didn't look health though. See uou next week.

Dad Garage says:

That frame is ready for Mars.

Jorge Mena says:

This is amazing, what a superb job you are doing! Great video as always

Okierover says:

Do you have a press at home for those bushings?or will you use that shop as you did before?

Pesmog says:

Very surprised just how compact that rear differential is. Many smaller vehicles have much larger diffs than a Disco 3. The local LR dealer must love it when Christian walks in with a shopping list of 50 plus minor components for his car…

Si Crewe says:

Superb series of video's and they're going to become a "how to" bible for anybody else doing the same work.

Makes you appreciate just how many components are in a modern vehicle…. and how many things need replacing if you're going to restore it properly.

bugjuicer says:

6:40 – harmonic balancers, aren't they? They apparently help with car sickness (no idea how!)
