I REPAIR EPB MODULE on a Land Rover Discovery 3 / LR3 / RRS for 0$

WATCH THIS FIRST – A faulty EPB on the Land Rover Discovery 3 / LR3 / RRS don’t have to cost you a lot of money. I managed to fix it for free and with the tools I have in my DIY garage.

If your HandBrake is sqealing when you use it, then STOP using it and get the handbrake components serviced. It will eventually jam on and unjamming it is not the most fun job to do. If it’s already jammend on and you have had to pull the manual release then you have come to the right place because that was what happened to me.

A new EPB module cost about 750 Pounds / 1000$ not counting the cost of replacing it. So by first watching this video and then trying to unjam it your self you could save your self a lot of money.

I bought new bolts, backing plate and new plastic gears to have in reserve for when I was suppose to do this job. I did not get the parts in time so no parts was replaced, but I recommend doing so since you are already going under the car and fixing it.

Great video, my 2005 LR3 has a fuel vapor canister between the spare tire housing and the EPB module. Did you encounter this? Looks easy enough to remove. Just curious. Thanks in advance.

Paul Lewis says:

Really enjoyed your video I wonder if you can access the EPB module without removing the rear wheels and putting the car in off-road height

Steven Willmoth says:

What scanner to iphone did you use?

Lee Meldrum says:

Lee Meldrum says:

Great video just about to do me epb module and replacing gear in it but after seeing your video I'm not sure weather to try this to save a bit of time I have the full rebuild kit. But it's a nightmare removing whole module can you tell me how long your handbrake has lasted since doing the job with your method? Many thanks Lee

TimeIV says:

Thank you so much for this video, it helped me immensely in understanding what was going on with mine. I got to the same point as you, confusion with the gap tool, guess I'll just pull the lever and hope for the best, but mine proceeded to jam itself again! Turns out, i was missing a circlip on one of the handbrake cables where it attaches to the hub, which means the cables were of different length and it was trying to tighten one side more than the other.

RRCarman02 says:

Mine is still on Jack stand and I’m on paused. Sciatic nerve stop me from continuing on till it heals. But yours a good idea getting it done. However my gears sound all grinding horrible. So I’ll just remove the whole things and fix at the spread tire well. I hope to have a happy expression like your when I’m done with mine. Good job. My is a 2006 HSE with nitto terra grabber A/T 285/60/18

Tim Henwood says:

I hope I get your relief shortly, did you pull the emergency relief cable to release the brake shoes to get the disks back on?

Brian Moore says:

What OBD2 software are you using?

Erik Iversen says:

Nicely done mate! 🙂 And congrats on your birthday too! 😀 😀

Good job, could see the joy in your face. I'm surprised nobody has come up with a manual handbrake kit for these yet.
