To even show people you doing this should be an embarrassment I’ve done quite a few of theses an never seen it as rough as this there is nothing worse than having to fix someone else’s shit!!!!
good job did myn a couple of years ago but i wouldent put the underlay back in that is what holds all the water took it out the front footwells aswell dripping wet they were and it had only had 2 owners from new and i new both and they had nether had it off road and it is the modle without the leaky sunroofs. i would recomend a discovery 300tdi to any1 better than my old td5 bag of shite
Nothing wrong with pop riveting the boot floor in, Disco’ is based on Range Rover classic & they had an aluminium boot floor riveted in on 1970’s/80’s models. I delete the 2 flat cross member’s & spend more time repairing the edges; you need the edges to rivet the floor to. When the edges are painted I cover them with grease before the new floor is riveted in. I don’t use any seam sealer, the only maintenance is dribble some oil around the edge every 2 years.
Oh and riven360 try putting the earth as close to the weld site as possible, minimizes the distance to ground and stops any interference with batteries and alternators.
I love to read the arm chair critics comments on this video, calum mackay is my favorite donkey, seconded by the comment by paul coulson, both have no idea of what they are commenting on, to seam weld the boot floor in is nothing more than a waste of time and materials, and beading a panel in is the same as spotting it in and perfectly acceptable to MOT testers, guess how I know dip shits!!!
@Calum Mackay, In my experience (which isn’t vast) everytime a vehicle is welded with the battery connected or the alternator it wrecks it, as in the battery will not hold any charge, or the alternator won’t charge the battery. Gas welding does not seen to affect the battery etc. But arc/mig welding always did for me.
How come? Done loads of welding on different cars/vans /tractors/lorries (including modern computerized motors) over the years and never disconnected the battery. Not saying your wrong, just wondering why you would need to?
Fucking botch! A grinder on rivets? Got no drill? Should be continuously welds right round (then you won’t need the slapdash sealant. You would never get a test on that at our local garage. Also you drill holes and redo the tack welds in the floor, rivets aren’t the best for that job.
looks like a rough job to me! should be spot welded all the way around! and would it not have been easier to drill out the spot welds when reoveing the panel rather than cutting tham out with the grinder?
Excellent vid thats all that is to it , a bit opf elbow grease , dirt and grime and its done . Thanks RG
Did u guys wear enough jewelry in this video?
