I have just replaced the motor, the replacement didn't have the large gear that is driven by the worm drive. So I took the old one out and swapped it over. The white plastic piece hasn't been moved but my wipers still don't park. Any ideas why? Also intermittent wipe still doesn't work even though I've replaced the relay.
I think your `dust residue` is the aftermath of the crank arm rubbing on the backing plate (where your scouring marks where). That should not be rubbing at all. I would be inclined to space the backing plate of the main body with some washers and fill the (now new) gap around the backing plate and main body with a bit of silicone (just to keep dust out). Good video though.
