Thanks for the tip. solved the problem! And yes the guage is a piece of crap. This is the worst vehicle I have ever owned. Always breaking, parts falling off, even with low miles. Bad gas mileage, expensive to fix, difficult to work on, constant expensive maintenance, poorly engineered, etc. etc. I’ve abused the hell out of a lot of vehi I’ve owned and they kept going and going. This thing is down a bit on fluid, problem! Why do people buy these?? I don’t get it. I’m done ! Getting rid of it!!
Hey. Good tutorial.
The cooling system is definitely the weakest point on those vehicles. The temp. gauge is pretty useless as you say. So a OBDII solution or aftermarket monitoring system is a must!
Really? Because I have read dozens of forum pages about these trucks running hot. I am glad your 99 range rover doesn’t run hot but this is a LAND rover. I am not going to go into the details of why this is different because I have no idea which engine you currently have. The strange thing is that you think these trucks overheat because people are morons. Intelligence has no affect on engine coolant. If you google YAAFM you will understand why this is.
Hey another question.. I’ve noticed that you installed back in June.. is it still working well for you? And how many degrees did you bring your trunk down when fully warmed up? Thanks
Great video.. These trucks coolant systems are for shit.. How the F do they drive these things in Africa? Is that the motoRad 180 or the AB soft spring ?
Thanks to your video, I had the info I needed to change the thermostat on my Land Rover Discovery myself. Thank you so much!!! Saved me hundreds of dollars and I learned a lot in the process! And my truck is no longer overheating.
If your using a hose put a water filter before pumping into your radiator, you’ll reduce the mineral deposit.

I had my vehicle up to around 245 degrees before the temp. gauge left the half way mark.

Yah I would like to know too.

That is the most complex coolant system I have ever seen. LOL I was thinking about buying one of these but now I don’t know.
I spent 20 years 4×4 in Utah, SoCal and Arizona. Never had 1 problem in my 88 or 99 Range Rover. Must be the idiot human, not the machine.

Thanks for response .. I will be investing in one.. cheers
the cooling system in rovers aren’t good, can’t keep up with the engine’s need of cooling. its the motorad 180
