Full Overhaul of our Land Rover Discovery 3

Full Overhaul of our Land Rover Discovery 3

We started a complete overhaul of our 2006 Land Rover Discovery 3. The car is now 17 years old and has 270.000 km on the clock. We love this car very much and decided to renew it completely, even though the engine is running perfectly. We just do not want to take the risk of a major engine failure of the TDV6 – which is well known for oil starvation. This is episode one of this exercise.

We are not liable for any harm you do to your car, your engine, your surroundings or yourself. Use the information given in this video at your own risk.

Thanks for watching,
Vera & Christian

Garrick Payne says:

Seeing the underbody rust made me shudder. I bought a Jag X-type at auction once which turned out to be a personal import from Europe where they salt the roads. It looked like it had been sitting at the bottom of the ocean for 10 years. Faaaar worse than yours.

You doing it all wrong! I know this to be true even though I've never worked on a Land Rover in my life! I just feel it on an emotional level and if you disagree I'll report you to Youtube for hate speech!

Nick B says:

On your steel, i use Bilt Hamber it's a rust convertor, i wouldn't use anything else, i have coated a piece of steel with it & left it outside for around 12 months & no rust has returned

Nick B says:

It doesn't matter how you decide to take a body off it is your choice, on my classic Austin club members say drop the engine down & get it out from underneath, i use a crane & lift it out from the top, it's my choice no one elses & it's not any harder the way i do it
