Ewwwwww- “for fans that like the look” hahah who are they then? This is vile. Where I live in the Cotswolds (UK) the defender is super popular with farmers (the Cotswolds is very rural) and family’s.. None of them would own this.. Ewwwwww!

The DC100 is not the Defender. Just another watered down SUV/4×4. This is what happens when you get the marketing executives in.
I totally agree I’ve been using a Jeep Wrangler in Canada now for 15 years for my work and its only advantage over a huge full size truck is its small wheel base. I can’t find a small wheel base diesel or gas 4wd that can give me good fuel economy and power for my work.
Looks awful and is no replacement for the tough defender.
Range Rover is already hitting a home run with the Evoque. They are not making the Evoque fast enough for sale. And this will be the case with the new Defender too, I hope, because I really like the new styling of this concept. I know there will be some hard-core fans of the old and current Defender, but Range Rover needs to change with the new younger buyers just to win their heart and mind.
I like it. The Defender’s great, of course, and maybe they shouldn’t go for such a drastic design change, but it still looks neat. Either way, this is only set to be launched in 2017.
if it can out perform the current Defender with off-road ability, towing and load carrying ability, and I can still sleep in the back fully stretched out, then LR will have succeeded, if not then they will have failed…

Why would you want a more comfortable defender? Isn’t that a discovery? Defenders should be kept as it is! Or at least produce both dc 100 and the defender as we know it! Why don’t they just face lift the current defender ( but still make it 100% compatable with current). You can’t even modify the dc100 there sales will drop! If landrover stop the current defender I will be disappointed!

Side profile looks good but please change the face, it looks like a depressed Kia. Also I might add, if it goes wrong or needs emergency repairs it should be fixed with a hammer, not a Mac Book.
Take this vehicle to Africa, far away from trained mechanics and super clean fuels, and then we will see if this a true replacement for the Defender. Toyota will again reign supreme. Move the Defender production line to India; continue with its construction there for use in the third world; and keep this monstrosity for the yuppy crowd in Europe and North America.
I quite like it and I own a 1951 series one, I’m sure they will bring out a base model with steel wheels and more rugged trimming etc
