metering control ? that is a pump specialist job.
hi I have error COD P0256 which is injection pump fuel pump metering control B can you help me what it is how to fix it,thanks
VERY good demo.one more thing to check.
Make sure you check the plunger on the new and old solenoid .I have found in some cases they are of a different shape.
If you install the wrong shaped plunger on your truck it will not shut off.
This problem seems to be with the aftermarket ones .Genuine ones don’t seem to have this problem.I have run into this problem twice and ended up installing a GENUINE stop solenoid.
Got sorted thanks for the video and your help much appreciated
what is there to explain?
Hi Darragh. That is the tamper proof solenoid which I have no information on sorry.

could you explain to me, how work of second fuel cut solenoid, that fit at izusu phanter..
first fit at front of suction port and one other near vanve pump
You are welcome!
Thanks for the advise. Really appreciated.
If oyu have metal filings in there it is a sign of big trouble. Pump will fail and if the swarf gets to the injectors then it will take them out too.
Hi there. Thanks for sharing the videos … quite informative and very useful. I have a problem that I can’t really understand. My stop solenoid gets interrupted by these little tiny metal fillings and I can’t start the engine or turn it off. Have to stall the car so many times…Problem is usually sorted by giving the solenoid a good clean. It doesn’t look like rust (it’s an offroad defender 200tdi) I’ve gotten used to the idea that the pump might go soon. What you think? Thanks for your time
Hi there Cannot really give you a diagnosis on noises, bit difficult. Buzzing could be any number of things clicking means intermittent feed buzzing is a higher fequency vibration… could be a fault if it is isolated to the solenoid or could be from another component..??
hey there .. got the buzzing noise on startup as well… what do you mean by the circuit is faulty? Could you give a little detail? thanks in advance!
High chap just bought an old banger for my sis to use for a while – rover 420sdi I think they use a VP37 pump, car startsbut then revs its self up to 2000rpm and returns to idle straight away with a puff of black smoke. Problem is that the EML light stays on and the power is restricted could this be linked to a cut off solenoid ? regards will
Great video, well explained and just the right amount of detail. Nicely done. thanks!
Thanks very helpful – will tackle later today
if its clicking the circuit is faulty or the solenoid.. need to check if the power strong enough to the solenoid. ( light bult in circuit will show you rthis..
What a great vid, thank you. I have a ticking from this solenoid with ignition half turned. Cranks ok and fires if you keep the starter running. Is the clicking a fault or does that mean its operating nomally. Many thanks. Rob
ahh, yeah, now its daylight i was poking around and i think i can see the solenoid but it has two wires going to it. hmmm, dunno now
Yes would be similar however modern security systems are making the solenoid tamper proof. More than one wire to this will be an indication that it is wired up to an immobiliser.
I am right in thinking this fuel shut off solenoid would be similar to one fitted to the Ford Ranger 2.5 tdi Mazda engine? Thus the diagnostics and other useful advice would apply?
i use a bit of silicone spray when mounting it.
same principle as with an oil filter
