This is my second attempt at making a video and I know the lighting was not ideal so if you have any tips or advice, please don’t hesitate to comment below.
Shoutout for this video. Replacement worked out perfectly.
Good work. This was about the only video I could find on this. I also eventually found LR instructions for this process in case it's of any use to anyone. Not as detailed as what you have done, for example it doesn't really say anything about the gasket for some reason…… but useful anyway. Thanks for making this video! I was getting nowhere before I watched this; was able to successfully replace the cover thanks to your video.
Dude this video is awesome. I used it to upgrade the key to the smaller new design which looks very nice and slick.
I needed to know how to open the key and once that is done, the rest is history.
Thanks a lot.
very good video, I managed to complete two complete keys in less half an hour.
Wanted to say thanks for posting. I also wanted to add, I lost my spring and was able to use part of a spring from a pen.
perfectly done…….thanks
Thanks, worked for me. It is almost impossible to see the black plastic in this video, but there is not much to it. Once you pry the key apart, the rest is pretty simple. Look at the new plastic, you will see a few tabs you can break away on the old key so the spring and button remove easily.
Thanks, I watched this it was helpful. For the first part which is to separate the front and back of the original key, I found this easy to do by hand. The locking tabs are near to the middle of the length of the key, without excessive force the key will easily come apart. For the other tricky part which is getting the top spring loaded button off, there are two tabs on the original key, just bend these slight out of the way and the button and spring will come easily in a couple of seconds. Never mind the tabs that you just bent, this is on the part you are going to throw away. If you look closely you can see the part that you needs, don't break the top case push button. I just did two keys, first one was less than ten minutes, second one about 2 minutes.
