I have a 1996 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 1 ITS MAKEING THE SAME NOISE . JUST

Yon Cun says:

Yes I’m afaid it is a blown head gasket. My Disco 2 V8 made the same sound.
I replaced exhaust gaskets. To no avail. It took a year for it to sound
like a traction engine. At this piont I had to get to the problem. The
sound is hard to trace and it was not untill I burnt my hand feeling around
under the manifold on the left hand cilinder head. Yup the head gasket was
blown. Luckely in between the cilinders and not into the oil or water. I
found a engineering shop in the next village where the heads were skimmed.
Ordered a gasket set and my freind did the work for a resonable price. Now
she purrrs or should I say growwls. Worth every penny to get her right.
Best car I’v owned by far. Hope this helps man!

USBILZCOLLECTOR says:

It’s not the exhaust manifold gasket. I changed them out (2 per side) Made
no difference. 99.9% sure it’s blown head gasket. Forum landroversonly has
a bunch of info on this. I purchased H.G. kit from Atlantic British. Just
need time to take it apart. On my other video, guy posted link to video
about repairing a LR head that has a torch/burn out area. If I find that to
be the case here I may talk to him about repairing mine. When I begin the
repair, I’ll film it and post it here.

I have the same issue, did you find out what the exact issue is? I think
its a head gasket blown but could be exhaust man. gasket?
