I need to do this job on my 98 Disco 1 to get rid of the in-line pump the previous owner added instead for replacing the in-tank pump, so it is nice to see ahead of time what I will need to do. However, did I hear you say use a vacuum cleaner to clean out the gas tank? You should know that a shop vac (which someone might likely use) has a motor with brushes and sparks and could blow up big time if it sucks up gas fumes. Not a good idea. Better to wipe it out manually with a rag if it is dirty, assuming one can reach the bottom of the tank through the hole. Thanks for all the other tips, though. Very helpful.
