Great vid, can you swap compatible hard drives back and forth in a PS4
(probably formatted with the PS4 OS of course). Like you would swap memory
cards in devices (Vita/3DS for instance I know can be swapped back and
forth with no problems) and would it still work or would that lead to
problems.

John Vasquez says:

so I upgraded the hdd and ran the usb stick and what not, but after
shutting it down and turning it on the next day, I was prompted to redo the
initial set up….has anyone else go this? kinda weird but wanted to see if
anyone else had this issue

Jerome Campbell says:

Ok so let me get this straight, (i dont have a ps4 yet but i am planning to
purchase one in the near future and im buying a HGTS 1TB before i get my
ps4) so from what you instructed i need to download the newest firmware
(which is currently 2.0 i think) to a USB drive, and after i install the
1TB to the ps4,turn on the ps4 (Im assuming that it would go to “Safe mode”
on its own) then install the new firmware to the ps4 then i should be good
to go. My bad if this all seems foolish to say i just want to make sure
that im making the right moves ahead of time.

Zach Bruce says:

I want to stick this in my ps4. Seagate – 6tb Internal Sata Hard Drive For
Desktop.. Will this work?

J Sams says:

Sorry to ask. I am kind of a Newbie to this sort of stuff when it comes to
technology like this. Does the RPM on the hardrive help improve anything
Such as graphics, load speeds, and etc.?

MrSlushiePuppie says:

Hey I’m going to buy 1Terrabyte hard drive to replace the 500gigs, will my
progress in story AND multiplayer be saved to ps plus so i can redownload
it? Because i don’t want to loose my stuff…

idknuttin says:

does it matter what type of harddrive i buy? what are the size and sata
requirements?

Marc The Geek says:

That’s BS, lots of people are replacing it with a SSD, that’s way more
faster than 7200rpm. Remember this time the ps4 is Pc based. If it can’t
handle a simple 7200rpm HD, it shore is a week ass Pc.

MrEraider60 says:

Question, what if I decided to use the 500GB drive from the PS4 and swap it
into the PS3? Would it work?

levissfilms says:

Can you access safe mode right out of the box?

George Tempest says:

Done everything like mentioned on the Playstation website to have the
firmware ready on my USB drive with the correct files and correct spelling,
but all I get is an error message, saying – cannot find an update file for
version 2.02 or later error code SU-30649-2
I checked the file is the bigger one of the two to download, but how do I
actually know which version I have downloaded? The file is only called
PS4UPDATE.PUP no further details on it’s version?
Several people have come up with this problem, but nobody replies – help
please!

Andre Pacheco says:

Good video for installation, but instead of the !TB HD I went with
this Samsung Seagate Momentus SpinPoint ST2000LM003 2TB 2.5″ SATA Notebook
Hard Drive 9.5MM Amazon $116. I thought about an ssd but they are too
expensive for a 1TB SSD. Don’t get me wrong the ssd’s are great for gaming
but I’ll wait for the prices to come down. I have a 250 SSD in my PS3 and
online gaming is great.

BenG HD says:

Wait if I reinstall the PS4 system, Am I able to get my BF4 again cause I
transfered the game from ps3 to ps4 without disc cause I bought BF4 on the
PS3 system. PLZ reply anyone for a sub. I need to know for sure before I
start thinking about doing this cause I’ve got only enough storage to
install one game

黒Kuro Dante says:

Would you need to update the ps4 replacing the same model hard drive in the
console? I’m asking this question because I have a rented ps4 from renter
center as of now for a month, and I was planning to switch the rented ps4
hard drive with the ps4 i I’m eventually going to buy from Wal-Mart. I
don’t want to restart my ac unity story.

Kevin Grizz says:

I feel like an idiot,. but I am stuck… I have the new drive installed,
but cannot get the ps4 to recognize my usb drive cannot figure out what I
did wrong….what program did you use to make the files on the usb drive??

rebornthunder says:

+Marc The Geek After u do this , do u have to update the ps4 with the usb
or can u still do it from the ps4?

Richie Landeros says:

Awesome i have 5 games and my hard drive is more then half way full so i
was thinking about upgrading it to save me the time later when i actually
do fill up all the memory. I have a question though. What are the benefits
of having a faster hard drive then the one that comes with the ps4?

LeviScFc says:

Help, I’ve got lunix 8 for my laptop and when I install the software update
it works but the folder is not right, everything I download on the laptop
never works

Kenneth Vasquez says:

Wait but if u install the 1tb will u get your storage from all your past
storage if u sign into psn and get all your storage from the cloud or
before u install do u have to put it on a usb drive to store u saved
storage?

jackkiller352 says:

This might be a dumb question but if I take out my old hard drive all my
games that I’ve played and that data won’t be there right, unless I
download it on a usb or something?

richard utz says:

everytime i do this it says the This update file cannot be used ive done
everything i can think of help me.

Wayne Buffin says:

I have a question what if I was to do this hard drive change before I even
connect my ps4

oxy900 says:

Does the 7200 make it much faster ? Or does it stress out the console

Marshall Mathers says:

What if i want to copy the data from the old hard drive to the new one.

Chris61_62 says:

Can I use a 2.0 hard drive or do I need a 2.5 hard drive

bLuEpInOy says:

They have moved to samsung drives now but any drive should work. I pulled
a samsung 500gb 5400 out and put a samsung 2tb 5400 in.

Jadon McCaw says:

So if I pulled my ps4 right out of the box before turning it on and just
switch the hard drive is that okay?

kingofkod679 says:

If your have with it not finding update on flash drive try turning ps4 all
the way off put flash drive with system software on it in ps4 an then boot
in to safe mode an click option 7 worked for me

Michael Valentin says:

What happens to your game saves? Do they stay on the cloud? Same goes for
screen shoots and video capture.

Kane Hartley says:

+Marc The Geek could you give a uk link to a 2tb hard drive compatible with
ps4

KingMierda says:

I’ve tried 3 different USB drives with update 2.02 and no luck so far. I’ve
tried a bunch of times, I don’t know if it could be a problem of my new
Samsung 2 TB HDD or the USB drives. What can I do?

Ali Alenezi says:

I have a question, does the hard disk format matter? Ntfs or fat32 ? And
I’m thinking about using a 2 TB That’ll work right?

DgoinHAM says:

Can you put your saves on your flash drive and then into the next hardrive?

Danny Le says:

When I upgrade it how do I transfer over my save files for my games and the
games itself?
