I used an angle grinder to cut the sheet metal to size, release cuts, and
cut out the rust. To bent it up, just a couple blocks of wood, a couple
concrete, and a hammer. Then besides using the mig welder to weld in the
patch, that’s it.

when i first seen that deck i was like WTF! lol.. but the metal work was
really good impressed with the fit of the metal and attention to making it
look part of the deck , not something slapped on and welded, good job,
looks good !

I have built a small welder to weld the tabs on ni-cad. batteries. I want
to make welding rods out of my tig wire. Can i coat them with something to
act as insulation?

I used a flexible tape measure to measure around the curve, then added
another 1-2 inches roughly just to be safe. Once I had the shape bent, then
I placed it on the rusted area, traced it out and cut the remaining rusted
area of the deck.
