I found this tip on Amazon. I never tried pushing INWARDS as I turned.
Maybe that is the trick.. “First remove the stock emblem by pressing in
and turning left. After stock emblem is removed take new emblem and place
it in with it tilted to the left. The new emblem should slide in and then
press in and turn right. The emblem with snap into place.”
Hey man, your video was great, helped me do all my emblems, and I love the
result…. at least I thought I did until i walked out to my car after
school today and noticed that the new gloss paint on my emblems started to
wrinkle… almost like a fingerprint would look or a raisin. This is all
within just under a week after I completed the process. It took me long
enough and I feel lucky that I didn’t already break my front grille. Do you
have any ideas what might cause this anyone? do I really have to take them
all off again and sand down to chrome and start over? And what is to say it
won’t just happen again? Please help!

Although i have a 2011 mk6 GTi, and i was able to just push in and twist
off counter clockwise about 45 degrees. It didnt turn easily though so
anyone trying to do it, you really have to TURNNNNN that thing pretty hard.
After it twisted counter clockwise, the black net peice behind it clipped
off by just pushing it upwards from the back, the new emblem you want to
re-install at like a 45 degree angle push inward and twist clockwise to the
correct fitment (it will snap into place)
All things considered, i broke 1 tab on my stock oem emblem, but it was
alot easier and less time consuming then dis esembly of the whole grille.
You can just use plasti dip, works just as well.
Did you just use normal spray paint, or plast-dip, or what?

one is Golf Gti 6?
I did this project today and i found easier to pull the whole thing out
pushing the two locking parts under the emblem down. After removing the
screws i pulled the grill and i saw the clips right there at the bottom of
the emblem. Just pushed them and the whole thing came out. Thanks for the
tips here!
I have a 2014 JSW SE 2.5L MKVI and I wasn’t sure how the bottom grill is
connected to the front bumper. It felt like I was going to break it if I
pulled to hard.
LastHumansGarage’s tip from Amazon (in the comment section below) worked
like a charm. Took 5 mins to remove the OEM emblem and replace it with a
new blackout emblem. Pushing it in and twisting was the trick. Don’t pull
too hard. Be gentle. The emblems clips bent a bit when I removed mine but
it did not break. The plastic is durable and clips bent back into place. I
would also recommend buying an ABS black plastic emblem instead of
painting. I got my front emblem for $30 bucks online. I’ve been a
professional artist for 20+ years and I can tell you if you want a clean
perfect paint job on your emblem, painting them isn’t the way to go. Even
if you have all the right paint conditions and get a clear paint job (good
luck – there is always going to be some imperfections) the paint will never
hold up over the years. You are bound to get chips in the paint and its
going to make your car look cheap. LastHumansGarage said he took 2 or 3
hours for painting (and repainting) his emblem. At least you removed your
emblem from the car before painting. Some people don’t even both removing
their car’s emblem before painting and just mask a little part around the
badge. Most of those cars must have paint over spray all over the bumper
and hood. That will destroy your cars paint job! It was worth it for me to
buy a solid black plastic piece. Thanks again for the video and tips

My emblem is the, turn counter clockwise to release and clockwise to
tighten kind.
But, I broke a clip before and lost my emblem …
So , I ordered a Euro Style Emblem.
It’s black and red , Paint!
I used pasti dip on my emblem I lost ( the stock one )
Also cleaned my temp sensor 🙂

I purchased a ” pre painted” one for the front, to try and save time ( it
also has red inlay to match my car! Looks great) so… I removed grill to
find my vw tab was melted to my grill? No wonder the twist thing never
worked, lol.. so my question, what is best way to get vw badge out? …,
roto zip? Heat? Our Will razor work? Love your vids and would appreciate
your input on this…
What about the chrome gti emblems? You should paint them black or red to
complete the look.
You don’t have to remove the grill at all. I removed mine and all you need
to do is grab the emblem and turn. It is tough but once you turn it, it
comes right off. To put it back on just line it up and twist it back in and
it will lock.
