thanks for the videos. i have this problem and your video helped out alot. i have a 2004 optima.

Autotechviewpoint says:

No more than what i did on the video for the lower ball joint. Others do undo the nut and take the ball joint out that way… The CV joint, most every CV (Constant Velocity) joint has a C-clip on the end that helps hold it in the transmission, when you use a prybar to remove it the C-clip compresses and it comes out, (that is the theory) same with putting it back in, it will compress when pushing back in with a little force.

Pacicin Chiaricurri says:

So the lower ball-joints don’t have to be undone? Wouldn’t that make the removal easier? And when you install new CV Joint into transmission, does it lock in there or is it loose (since you had to use a pry-bar)..?

JP from kansas.
Thanks. Been prying on shaft but no success.
Will try harder.
Appreciate your video.

Wow 50ish years a long time. Glad to help. If you or anyone film your repairs, I would love to post them here and I would give you credit! See your name in lights, take care!

Lisa Wolf says:

Thanks. My husband has been a mechanic for close to 50 years and he thought the video was great and really helpful! We’re in Nevada. Thanks again.

Autotechviewpoint says:

I do not think so, CV jobs are pretty much the same, usually the lower ball joint and how you separate it, is usually the only difference.

smorrow0816 says:

I am going to attempt this plus the ball joints on a 95 Kia Sephia. Any difference between the Optima and Sephia to do this job?

knipex, the only way to go! Thanks or the great videos.

Isn’t this the drivers side video? It is good, but I think you posted the one side, twice.
