Kia Rio Brake Pad Change 2005-to-2020. Easy

Kia Rio Brake Pad Change, brake pad change on a 2017 Kia Rio and same process for most years of Kia Rios. You also may need to push back your caliper to get it over the new brake pads, if so, I have a video up showing how to press the caliper back in. If you press caliper back in, you should use an old brake pad and a C-clamp. thanks.

a hadi says:

Need to check the caliper and put some grease inside the bolts

Matthew Wiegand says:

For used pads you have to remove the caliper so you cant put the piston back down…they wont come out that easy otherwise..trust me

Jacques Côté says:

Hello, do you Know if we have to rotate the caliper piston on the front and rear brake on Kia rio 2018, can I just use a C clamp or do I have the buy the brake tool kit

Paul Mahon says:

Hi. Thanks for the video. I just looked at the description and then looked for the other video about the caliper too and couldn't find it. Could you please link it or reply with a link? Thank you and keep up the good work

Dark Egress says:

Question: Does the caliper guides need lubrication? On older cars this is mandatory to allow the brakes to retract and not wear out prematurely.
I used Permatex 24110 Ultra Disc Brake Caliper Lube on my other cars. I think this would be needed on the Kia Rio as well?

Michaud Roy says:

I'd be curious to see the parking brake sysem.

Coolest Life says:

I did mine and recorded it. I have a few tips.

SasquatchMelee says:

Civilized people use 14mm sockets.

Lilly Shea says:

Is this the same for both front and rear brakes? No need for any grease or anything. I'm a very broke college student who's about to just take a leap and do this myself.

Dana Barker says:

Thanks for mentioning if you needed a tool or a C clamp to depress the caliper pin in the description. That’s the only reason I pulled this video up 🙂

Lawrence Fuller says:

Props for good quality and clear instruction.

Bradley Swoveland says:

Video stops playing around 25 seconds

Underwhere5 says:

if you wouldn't have removed that leaf I would've lost my mind

Graham Drew says:

FYI For actually USED brake pads the caliper piston will likely be fully extended and needs to be compressed so caliper fits over new pads…

Christopher Ocasio says:

I’m sorry guys, but at least for me it’s not that easy ….. these kia’s are trash. Worst brakes I’ve ever done. It was not a screw this screw off job. I had to get special tools to push the pistons back in. Also make sure you cut your battery off when doing the brakes to prevent you’re ABS signal from staying on

De Pac says:

This guy did not do it right he didn’t even sure why you Gotta press the caliper

Jay Jones says:

Nice Vid Flashback. Keep up the good work.

Rags Almighty says:

Great stuff, thank you ! I reckon you just saved me $200 and a half day wait on a brake pads change – if you charged just 10% for everyone who watched your video you would be a happy man ! Thanks again dude !

Jay Gee says:

Just a point for anyone doing front and rear pads, the front system needs compressing by pushing in normally (you can use something to lever it back in) but the rear has a square block with 4 notches. Now ideally you'd have a special tool but I managed to use fish nose pliers in the top and bottom notches and you have to push and turn at the same time to compress. Just thought it might help someone out so they don't spend half hour trying to simply push it in like I did lol.

Jay Gee says:

Excellent video bud, just a quick question, I managed the pads but the screws on the front discs are insanely tight to the point one of them has started to wear where I've tried to turn it. Should they be this tight or do I need a special tool to get them off? Thanks.
