Just a quick video showing how I manually retracted the Electronic Parking Brake in order to replace the Rear Brake Pads on a 2021 KIA Telluride. This would be the same for the Hyundai Palisade.

The Torque Specs I found online:
27 – 30 ft. lbs. for the Caliper Slide Pin Bolts.

Is that EPB motor on left and right side? Doing this job tomorrow and i dont like surprises lol

@jaredstorm6124 says:

Fantastic video. I loved how you showed all of us how to bypass the dumb break pad motor. Thanks for all your help. I can't wait to see what you can teach me next time.

@TrentR0123 says:

This worked perfect thank you.

@schanppsidee says:

I saw you had used a battery previously to retract the epb in other videos but here you did it manually. Is there a preference for the telluride to do it manually versus the battery hack? I'm ordering front and rear brakes to do this job myself in the next couple of weeks, thanks for the help and video!

Can I use this method on 2021 kia xceed?

@WeekendMechanics says:

Thanks for this, cheers!

@brianboomhower1663 says:

Very helpful video. I used a scan tool and put brakes in service mode-the pistons retracted only half way-until I performed your method to fully retract pistons

@DVD77 says:

Much appreciated!

@claytonneer1319 says:

Will this work on a 2023 Kia Sportage EX?

@BrendanMcDermott-r9y says:

great step by step instructional video! thank you

Brilliant thanks

For the rear with the electric motor on my palisade, I just took the motor off, only 2 Allen key heads, then used a larger Allen key in the center and gently tightened, it's on a bearing and requires zero force, used a c clamp to compress, swapped the pads, lube the seal around the piston, put motor back on, reinstalled everything, plugged it in and done. Took me an hour, for all wheels for 2020 palisade. Zero noise, super simple. Also I had parking break off when I did it.

@RDJL559 says:

Is that a spline bit or allen bit? To wind the electric brake

@dmoore7519 says:

Kia’s answer to the parking pawl not holding is to force the parking brake to engage EVERYTIME the car is parked. If in park, engine running and door opened, the brake is set.

@ericmodernel9205 says:

Thank You so much for the help… Your the Best… God Bless

@anthonygentile1362 says:

Is this the same/similar for a 22 Kia carnival?

@aaronharms3594 says:

Appreciate the parking brake info! Lot simpler than I thought. Thanks!
