Scott Secora says:

Hi Scotty great video. I suspect a bad weal bearing but im hearing a pretty
loud clicking and rattling noise in my rear driver side tire on my 4×4 2000
ranger is that likely a bearing that fell apart? Any advice would help.

tyler humphries says:

Hey Scotty a quick question. I have a 2001 Olds Alero and I have a loud
roaring from the front and it gets louder the faster I go, I can put it in
neutral, brake but it still makes the same sound. But people don’t say its
a bad wheel bearing because the sound stays either way I turn. Could it be
that both are bad together or am I looking at something worse?

Steven Astudillo says:

Scotty!

I have a 2001 Subaru Forester L that I bought last year in 2013. Great car,
and the engine has never given me problems until now.

It seems like my gas mileage has gone down. Whenever I start the car in
cold weather and warm it up(New York City’s weather is VERY unforgiving at
times) it seems like a bar or two of gas is gone.

Also, whenever I give the engine gas, I hear a rattling sound on the
driver’s side coming from the middle of the car. Any ideas? I’ve checked
and checked and I still got no ideas.

Arslan Khalid says:

Hi Scott, great work

I have a 2008 Toyota Avalon and recently have started hearing a roar from
the back. It’s not overly loud and does not increase greatly as I drive
fast. Could it be a rear wheel bearing? The car has 140,000 kms. The sound
is just present in the background and resembles an aggressive exhaust note
on some cars. Can you please help?!

ROSALIO GOMEZ says:

MR. KILMER… I HAVE A 2003 NISSAN FRONTIER, NOT LONG AGO THE SERVICE
ENGINE SOON LIGHT APPEARED, I TOOK THE TRUCK TO ADVANCED AUTO PARTS AND IT
SEEMS THAT THE CODE TRIGGERING THE LIGHT IS P1456, WHICH IS A VERY SMALL
GAS LEAK. CAN I TRY TO FIX IT MYSELF OR IT IS BETTER TO TAKE THE TRUCK TO
AN ELECTRICIAN? IF I TRY TO FIX IT MYSELF, WHERE DO I START?

yo asian videos says:

Rick Birkbeck says:

Just bought my first used car and used your videos to keep my
repair/maintenance costs down. Brilliant advice and I’ve recommended you to
my friends and family! Keep em coming!

eirefile says:

Another great video, Scotty! I came across it because I suspect a bad
bearing, but I just cannot find any proof of it! I have a 2WD 2002 Chevy
Silverado, and I hear a low rumble somewhere in the driveline at about 25
mph, especially when decelerating. I replaced the U-joints, but no help.
I lifted the vehicle and shook all the tires, but found no play and heard
no noises. The wheels spun freely and that made no noise. I checked the
differential fluid, and it was full, but I replaced it any way. No help.
Other than blindly replacing the bearings on the hope that that’s the
problem, I wonder if you or any of your viewers have any suggestions you
could share on what the noise may be. Go Screaming Eagles!

Sam Bishop says:

if only wheel bearing bolts came off that easily haha

Drew Meade says:

how should new wheel bearings spin? i just got some new ones and they are
harder to spin then the ones i wanted to replace!

digitalPimple says:

How about a CV joint? Just found the boot closest to the tran on drivers
side ripped open and grease everywhere… Re pumped in grease and hosed
clamped for now… Anything too involved?

jgyrwa says:

your such a beast at this scottie! Now if you could make the same video for
an 02 Audi A4 B6 that would be great!

DatCarGuy310 says:

The new bearings i put on my car still hum, they were from crappy
duralast.. which brand is best for 06 honda pilot? It’s a front wheel
drive.. the front hums too much

Anon Doe says:

Hi, I have 2 bad front hub bearings on a Ford focus 2004. I’ve been
searching the internet quite a bit and not sure, but do they every some
with the hub and bearings as a set that are pre-pressed so I wouldn’t have
to take them to a machine shop or something like that?

EricCris10sen says:

I know this may sound dumb but what did you put the jack on to jack it up?
Was it the differential?

eddie lima says:

my front right tire has a faint rubbing/scraping noise and it gets louder
while breaking . any ideas ??? its a 2003 saab 93 2.0t

Jay Santos says:

Hi Scotty. Can uneven tire wear or bad alignment contribute to shot
bearings?

SpikeRazzor says:

Scott you’re a good man.

Kathryn Fortunato says:

lol, I’m thinking “Scotty, you forgot to put the studs in!” as you put the
big bolt on, then it’s like “OHHHHH! I get it now!” Feeling special. :D

Keitsha Claytor says:

Hey Scott hows it going? I’m kind of new to tube but I will subscribe and
definitely enjoy your videos. I have a 2005 toyota corolla that has had a
humming noise for quite some time. It gets louder the faster I go. I have
replaced the wheel bearing twice since the noise has started. Do you have
any idea what else it could be? I’ve been doing some research and I guess
the corolla have an axle with some type of bearing assembly on them..idk.
your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Taylor Hernandez Hernandez says:

Scott my truck shakes violently at random times when im driving. Any idea
what it could be besides it being an old truck??

Fred G. Sanford. says:

I have a 2001 Chevy blazer. It makes a high-pitched squealing sound when I
take off, but stops while going fast. Steering is nice and straight.
Alignment seems fine. clue?

Madey Mohamed says:

I change my 06 Chevy Uplander right side wheel bearing but I still have
some noise what is that for

lavamarine says:

Don’t you have to set the torque to a certain lbs on the axle nut?

Nick Ryan says:

I went to Firestone to get my car looked at because it sounded like a
helicopter when I would drive.
The mechanic took it around the block, boosted it up in the shop, called me
in there to show me the problem. He wiggled the wheels and et said they
were dangerous to be driving on. The wheels were moving A LOT. The
mechanic wouldn’t drive it out of the shop he was so scared. That was
about 3 months ago, I still haven’t gotten it fixed and the tires haven’t
fallen off yet.
I want to fix it myself because it’ll save me $200 in labor costs. On the
diagnostics paper, it says “Brake systems: Bearing and Seals (front-both).
Can you tell me what that means and exactly what parts I will need to fix
it? Do I need just a bearing and seal OR do I need a new wheel bearing and
hub assembly?

Gary McLean says:

G’Day Scotty,

My 1997 Audi A4 sedan has recently developed a loud repetitive clicking
sound coming from the RHS rear wheel area. The noise level and frequency of
this clicking sound both increase with speed. The sound momentarily
disappears when turning right – as the RHS rear wheel bearing (front wheel
drive car) is momentarily unloaded.

This leads me to believe that the RHS rear wheel bearing is the culprit….
What do you think ? I can’t find a faulty wheel bearing being described as
a loud repetitive clicking sound, so I thought I would ask for your learned
opinion…. Anyone with useful input is also encouraged to correspond….

Cheers,

Gary

Need to learn the difference between a nut and a bolt!

Josh Canonburg says:

ive got one caliper they may be bad, adding more pressure on my driver side
then passenger side, is it true that this can cause a bearing to go bad ,
because now my 99 vw passat is roaring like crazy , it started out of no
where 65 mph down the bypass

roseann farinacci says:

I have a 2009 Kia Rondo. Can you tell me how much I can expect to pay at a
garage to have the wheel bearing replaced. Thanks

gogohead187 says:

Hey Schotty. My chevy equinox vibrates when I’m accelerating and stops
when a let off of the gas, and when I go above 60. Do you have any idea of
what that could be?

Jelle Van de Moortel says:

+Scotty Kilmer My mechanic says you can drive 30k with a bad bearing and it
won’t cause any problems, is this true?

Peter Paul says:

Hi Scotty, is it still safe to drive the car when you hear a humming sound
at the back? What’s the worst thing that coukd happened if you don’t change
the bearing immediately?

Christian Martinez says:
